Wondering why you should purchase this book when there are other titles written by much higher-caliber fighters? Well, Forrest Griffin is not as good-looking as those guys. He's not as smart as them or as athletically endowed. And let's face it, neither are you.
If you get off on having your face rearranged, though, Got Fight? is for you. This is a manifesto more strategic than Sun Tzu's The Art of War, more philosophical than Bruce Lee's Tao of Jeet Kune Do. In these pages you will learn about true mental toughnesswhether it's for scraping it out in the Octagon or picking up chicks. You will learn about the mental defects that made Forrest Griffin into the abomination he is today and how you can use your shortcomings to become equally horrible.
Forrest Griffin is one of the top-ranked light-heavyweight mixed martial artists in the world. He won the first season of The Ultimate Fighter in 2005 and has been one of the most beloved UFC fighters ever since. He is the Day man, fighter of the Night man, and champion of the sun. He is also a master of karate and friendship for everyone. But calm down, ladies, Forrest and his main squeeze, Jaime, live in Las Vegas.

This review is from: Got Fight?: The 50 Zen Principles of Hand-to-Face Combat (Hardcover)
I'm a huge fan of Forrest Griffin so I had to pick this up. Ultimately I was disappointed. There's some pretty funny stories in here but it's more like reading someone's blog and there really seems to be very little structure to the book. The instructional section at the back isn't going to worthwhile unless someone is a fighter themselves or is just a really hardcore fan. So not terrible by any means and I'm glad I read it. But I will definitely be re-selling as I don't have any desire or reason to read it again.

This review is from: Got Fight?: The 50 Zen Principles of Hand-to-Face Combat (Hardcover)
This is a thoroughly enjoyable read. This man obviously has a far greater intelligence than he gives himself credit for. It is well written and extremely funny in parts, but also gives an insight into the mind of a fighter, of which he has proved himself to be one of the best. His humour is mostly self-deprecating but when he chooses to big himself up he does it with style as well. Just read his own review of the book on the back.
