I originally started playing with RHEM but never did end up finishing it, not due to being stuck but other games at the time had my attention being drawn away (friends nagging to play online games at the time). I then picked up RHEM 2 and then 3 and finally went back to the beginning after playing RHEM 2 for a short while. I don't like skipping ahead any games usually and since I was really enjoying RHEM 2, I went back to the very beginning. I have to say this series is fantastic, expecially if your a fan of hard puzzles, many switches when you flick them, they do nothing at first.

RHEM series is a project from one developer, his name is Knut Müller and don't let a one man team have you thinking this game will be mediocre. Its far from it, its along the lines of being brilliant to make a game, let alone a series of games by yourself, and sell them very well because they are greatly enjoyed. As the previous reviewer has suggested, you WILL need some sort of way to graph a map of the game, as well as hints/notes to the puzzles. This is a serious mind bender with puzzles and if you are like me, I won't use cheat guides in adventure games. You will be stuck unless you take notes and draw a map or resort to cheating (if you do go this route, do use UHS Reader as it doesn't tell you the exact solution right away, but little hints instead). Of course this takes me so much longer to finish a game, sometimes not finishing it at all yet, but its much more enjoyed that way. Thats at least how I feel. The accomplishment of a puzzle with the magnitude of this game is so rewarding when you see the ending.

For the game to run, expecially for XP/Vista/Win7, RHEM 4 will run flawlessly but as I have suggested to try RHEM, make sure you have Quicktime installed. Any adventure game fan should have these in their collection.

This is the fourth installment of RHEM and it is as good as I expected it would be. The graphics are even better and the puzzles are more entriguing. I started with Rhem2 and before I finished it I was able to obtain both RHEM and RHEM3. Due to the production delays in producing the DVD version of RHEM4 I was unable to wait, and had to purchase an on-line version. So far I have enjoyed about 30 hours of playing over the course of a month and think I am very near the end. For anyone puchasing the game I recommend you get a pad of graph paper before you start. You will need it. Unless you are really good at making notes, a pencil and eraser will also help. Enjoy!
PS. I still plan to buy a copy to add to my collection.

I have put this in my DVD player many times hoping to see or get something.
Nothing happens.
I am not sure if the UK company is just trying to get rid of its faulty DVDs and so Canadian customers are easily deceived as the cost of shipping back to them is prohibitive compared to what you pay for it.

Large integrated puzzle land Dec 11 2011
By Sean M. Leonard - Published on
I'm a fan of the Myst series and a few years ago I came across the Rhem series. I have played through 1,2 and 3 and am now enjoying #4. One reviewer gave negative ratings, saying you had to take notes. Yes, you do, but I think that's part of the fun, honestly. You find yourself in a land of inter-connected puzzles, and it's up to you to make sense of it all. One thing I like about Rhem is that in almost all cases, you have to understand the solution to a puzzle, you can't just guess it. This makes it somewhat tedious when you do understand how to complete a puzzle, as you are forced to do it again and again. The graphics are just okay. Fans of the Rhem series will feel at home, but I can see how people just coming into the series would be a little disappointed. The dialogue in the series is always lacking a little. But, you're not playing this game for the dialogue, you're playing it for the puzzles, and there, Rhem delivers. Puzzles are creative and well thought out. You'll have many "ah-ha" moments and that's what keeps me coming back to a series like this. The games can be played independently of each other, so you can start anywhere in the series. Be sure to check it out if you were a fan of Myst and enjoy complex puzzles and getting lost in new environments.

Thanks to the Makers Jan. 18 2011

Rhem 4 is terrific--a reliable progress through a maze of logistical puzzles. It lacks the deep intuitive sense of the
early MYST games. [Maybe in Rhem 5? Please consider a villain and a chase and the solving of crises.] Until then,
we have a marvelous logic narrative of bridges, colors, engines, patterns. Thank you! [oh...I had to use a walkthrough
a few times.]

I thought Rhem4 was a very good game, I loved it! I did all the Rhem series and thought 4 was as good as the first three. I would like to see a Rhem 5 now.

Great Game Jan. 8 2011

Played this game with a friend using Skype. It is a challenging game of many difficult puzzles to solve but all can be done through careful hunting and record keeping as you move along. We found no errors or problems and the game loaded easily with Windows Vista. We have also enjoyed playing the earlier Rhem games and look forward to number 5.

Wife loved it Jan. 17 2013

My wife is a gamer, and really loves puzzle type games such as Myst. Based on the Rhem 4 product description and other reviews, I got her this just on a whim.

She took to it right away. The puzzles are challenging, to say the least. They test your logical thinking and problem solving. The graphics are pretty good, and the sound effects are appropriate and really not too overbearing. She has probably had over 100 computer puzzle type games over the past 20 years or so. She said this was certainly one of the ten best. It is a big game with lots to explore and some tricky twists and turns, but isn't that the whole point?
