Grace Abounding to the Chief of Sinners is one of the great classic autobiographies, part of the Christian tradition of testimony from The Confessions of St. Augustine to Corrie Ten Boom's The Hiding Place. In Grace Abounding, John Bunyan (1628-1688), the author of Pilgrim's Progress, describes his conviction of sin, his struggles against unbelief, his entrance into the meaning and comfort of the Holy Scriptures, and much more.

5.0 out of 5 stars A serious look at the cult of the self Dec 28 2012
By Samuel
Format:Hardcover|Verified Purchase
This book was once considered a kind of required reading because it so clearly outlines the process of the Holy Spirit drawing sinners into salvation. The bold and open declaration that we are brought to salvation and it is worked in us by God has been lost with all the self empowerment teaching and ideas we have joined hands with in the church over the last half century. To see an open an honest person record the process of repentance and salvation happening in them is both instructional and deeply encouraging.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Godsend May 1 2002
Format:Paperback
As someone who struggles with obsessive-compulsive thoughts and fears about my standing with the Lord it has been a tremendous blessing to read the spiritual autobiography of this great saint. Bunyan spent years in fear for his soul having thought he had committed an unforgiveable sin. But in the end he came through it and wrote "The Pilgrim's Progress" to encourage others. He died a courageous and much loved minister.
This book has been more important for my walk with God than any other except the Word of God itself. I totally recommend it for any one who wonders whether it is possible to survive feelings of despair and come to true peace in Christ.

5.0 out of 5 stars I LOVE IT May 3 2001
Format:Paperback
The Pilgrim's Progress is the 2nd most famous book in the world. John Bunyan is a genious and the arguments in the book are very convincing and hard to deny. Anyone who believes in "free will" would be turned around if they read this book. It clearly explains that we do not choose God, He chooses us, or rather, he CHOSE us before the foundations of the world. Everything in his book is scriptual and I love it!
