This workbook is amazing for those trying to learn French as a second language. It is for intermediate learners who already have a good understanding of the language. The workbook consists of explanations for grammatical concepts followed by a couple pages of exercises. I highly recommend getting the answer key to go along with this book.

Buy this OR the orange book, not both!,

First, let me say that I love this series of workbooks from CLE. I've used at least six of these, having purchased three and using the rest in a classroom setting. Even so, I give this book 4 and not 5 stars because the "progressive" element to the Grammaire series is quite small. I finished the orange beginner Grammaire Progressive in my beginning French class and found that this book repeated too much material (with little additional detail) from the orange book. While it's true that progressing levels of language class will often cover prior material, this book does so too much. If you have not read the orange book and are not a complete beginner, or you are a complete beginner but also a motivated learner, I would recommend this book. If you've read the orange book, I would not recommend this book, but perhaps the next level up (a green book?). This is what one of my French instructors recommended to me - unfortunately after I already bought this book - but I have never used the advanced book so cannot recommend it one way or another.

All types of materials are important for variation in learning a language.This book compiles exercises that are seemingly easy but watch out! You need an additional book that has the answers that my friend bought. I study with 2 other friends. We do the exercises on our own, then get together to read them and correct them. I would recommend this book in conjunction with conversation, writing and reading additional material in french. 3 of 3 people found the following review helpful

This book has terrific exercises. The homework questions give you a lot of new vocabulary. The questions also give a nice insight into daily french life which makes it fun to do them.
