Product Description
Now fully redesigned, this new edition contains the most up-to-the-minute practical information and listings, along with colour photographs and maps. Cadogan’s essential three city guide takes you right into the heart of southern Spain by uncovering the delights of Granada, Seville and Cordoba. Although all Spanish and all Andalucían, each has their own distinct character, scenery and vibe: Seville, a city of drama and passion, home to those most Spanish creations, flamenco and tapas, and the greatest gothic cathedral in the world, La Giralda; Spiritual Cordoba with its Great Mosque and medieval quarters; Refined and wistful Granada, with its extraordinary garden-hung Alhambra palace and spectacular views of the Sierra Nevada. With detailed information on traveling between the cities, plus a fascinating insight into their history and development, this is both a highly practical and deeply enthralling accompaniment to a three-centre trip or individual city break.
From the Back Cover
Three dazzling cities, with remarkable stories to tell. Granada, nestled at the foothills of the snowcapped Sierra Nevada, drenched in the sweet melancholy of the lost world of al-Andalus and glorying in the drama of the Alhambra. Showy Seville, home of roses and passion, Carmen, bulls and flamenco, where you can pick oranges from the trees and eat tapas in the city that invented them. Cordoba with its Mezquita, ancient Jewish quarter and twisting maze of white alleys, a haven of quietness and dignified calm. Cadogan’s essential guide is ideal for a short break or a longer stay in these three great cities of southern Spain, where the stuff of civilization merges delightfully into the pleasures of everyday life.

‘Seville maybe Spain’s fourth largest city, but it is a place where you can pick oranges from the trees and see open countryside from the center of town. Come in Spring if you can, when the gardens are drowned in birdsong and the air becomes intoxicating with the scent of jasmine and a hundred other blooms.’
