4.0 out of 5 stars inspiring book and beautiful!, Feb 14 2008

I found that book at our local library.

Many many afghans, many many beautiful ideas are presented in this book! I'm not the type of person who follows a pattern. I get inspired. I loved the beauty of the authors' works. All well done. I did not check if they were well written or easy to understand but at a glance, if you know how to read patterns, abbreviations, you should be able to follow the directions in this book.

The style is really what the title announces: flowers, afghans, doilies, etc. And it's ok like this: that was probably the authors' purpose.

I will probably go back to this book because for me, this is a classic.

Very nice work and fun book to have on your shelves if you are looking for inspiration.

Sorry for the mispellings.

5.0 out of 5 stars Granny Squares, Nanny Squares, July 18 2001
By Susan Ricketts - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: Granny Squares-Nanny Squares: New Twists for Classic Crochet (Hardcover)
Granny Squares with a Victorian twist. Excellent colourful pictures for each item listed. The patterns are easy to follow with clear diections stating suggested materials. The book also gives detail stitch instruction with easy to follow pictures for the less advanced crocheter. The patterns are unique using different yarns and textures. Not only does the book include afghans but pillows, tablecloths and several ideas for home decorating. This is a wonderful book for any person who enjoys making afghans.

Very nice, tasteful designs. Some of them are a little '80s-ish, but it's a good, solid crochet book.
