Wow!,

This review is from: Grass Beyond the Mountains: Discovering the Last Great Cattle Frontier on the North American Continent (Paperback)
It's about a time that will never be repeated. Not even close. The tale of the endeavours of Rich and Pan makes for one of the greatest westerns Ive ever read. And true (mostly at least) too! Loved the descriptions of his pardner Pan Phillips. What a pair.

We have had a guest at Chezacut Wilderness and Ranch Adventures from New Zealand previously who told me he had read "Grass Beyond the Mountains" when he was a little boy. Ever since, he had wanted to come to where it all happened and I felt quite privileged to be his guide at the time and share my passion of these great memories that Rich Hobson stored in his book.I love books that tell stories about the history of where we live and work here in Chezacut. Having been here on our family cattle ranch for many years I actually know some of the characters from the book, who have mostly passed by now, but their families still live in the area. It is a book well worth having and it really inspires the western spirit unlike that of the midwest that we know so well. These adventures were unique and they simply just make me feel special, because I get to live it daily and it all happened right in our midst.

Read It!,

We own the Legacy Ranch high in the mountains of Northeastern Utah. For years we have loved the beauty of the unspoiled wilderness. Nursing newborn elk calves, watching Canadian Lynx outside their lairs, and many other adventures have cast us in the mold of lovers of the wilderness. To read the adventures of true cowboys, who started with nothing else but their "grit" and ended up with lives spent plumbing the depths of fun and hard work was one of the top literary experiences of our lives. This book, far better than the sequels, will be part o four Christmas giving this year.
