I've been enjoying Mlle Soly's recordings of Graupner's Partitas for harpichord.
This sees her sitting at the organ, directing a group in a fine rendition of this unheralded work.
If you expect a Telemann or Bach-like work, forget it.
This is a much more personal, perhaps introspective, yet beautiful work. There are none of the virtuosic, or extraordinary effects of the Partitas.
The recording is excellent, the ambience spot on, and the singing and instrumental parts top rate.
Yet another example of why Graupner was sought for the Leipzig post that Bach eventually landed.
And another plank in the question as to how this bloke has been ignored for 300years.
For those who love music in most of its forms. Highly recommended
