This is a nice collection of 17 of Bon Jovi's songs, what you might want to know before clicking on the purchase this tab, is that it isn't a comprehensive collection of all their singles or even singles that had film clips. It's just a random assortment of some of their film clips throughout Bon Jovi's career, 17 of them, well 16 actually, since Blaze of Glory was not a Bon Jovi song but instead a Jon Bon Jovi standalone artist release. There's one new film clip called What Do You Do which is obviously there to promote their new greatest hits music CD which has a lot more songs on it than this DVD. I don't think that song will be as popular as Always was from their last greatest hits album Crossroad. Always by the way is on here, as are some of their biggest songs such as Livin' On a Prayer, Wanted Dead or Alive and It's My Life. A lot of popular big selling singles are left off though such as Something for the Pain, Raise Your Hands, One Wild Night, Miracle (if you're including Jon Bon Jovi songs) and some of these had brilliant film clips. In fact a lot of Bon Jovi's left off this DVD film clips, had a lot bigger budgets, and were more artistic than a lot of the ones on here, which are mostly just concert rehearsal, actual concert or mock concert footage playing as the studio version of the song provides the sound. I do like and enjoy watching those concert style film clips, this is how 90% of film clips were for all artists, in the 80s, but I would have liked to have seen the later album singles with the more movie type film clips on here as well, even if arguably they weren't better songs. I don't know why this was limited to just 17 film clips.
You also get 17 live tracks, the orange rectangle on the cover claims them to be the greatest live performances. They're not, not even close. Clearly whoever put that on there hasn't been to a Bon Jovi concert as most of the live performances don't do the greatest live band in the world justice at all. I mean It's My Life from Madison Square Garden, only the computer background graphs react to this song, the crowd doesn't. Plus all live tracks are exactly the same songs as the film clips ones, surely this would have been an opportunity to include, Everyday, Blood on Blood, Some Day I'll Be Saturday Night, Wild in the Streets, Sleep When I'm Dead and other major concert playlist songs which either didn't have film clips or were left off instead. To make matters worse, they aren't even new live film clips, if you own other live DVDs by Bon Jovi, you're going to be doubling up. It's like this DVD is supposed to promote you to go out and buy the other full concert DVDs by providing these samples. I would have preferred the live tracks were left off all together and more Bon Jovi film clips were here instead but at the very least new live versions should have been used.
It's an all right DVD to buy, interesting to watch the changes in the appearances of the band throughout the years as you relive the film clips, many you no doubt haven't seen for years, but it just could have been so much better! Plus commentaries on the film clips would have been nice. In fact there are no special features at all which is very disappointing.
