Great buy,
By Sadie May (Canada) - See all my reviews

You really do get the greatest of Springsteen's hits. This CD (and at only $9.99!!) is an amazing deal, considering you only have to buy one cd in order to get everything you'd want to listen to in one place! It's a great CD for someone who, like me, likes Springsteen, but doesn't LOVE him, and feel obligated to own every album he ever made.

18 stars for 18 tracks,

The eighteen tracks that make up this cd are great. For a first time listener, you'll hear a ton of good songs that you may recognize from the radio, but didn't know who sang them. Why is Bruce Springsteen so cool? I'm not sure, but he definitely is. Some of the highlights among the highlights are born to run, the river and atlantic city. The latter two are moody acoustic ballads that remind me of early Dylan. Then you move into the eighties. A notoriously terrible time in music history, Bruce has some of his best songs from that period, including glory days and born in the usa. Basically, if you like music of the classic rock variety, that still feels fresh, pick this up. But only if you have enough money to buy several more albums, because the little taste you get of each record just won't be enough to satisfy you.

Music Fantastac! Packaging Not So....,
By T. Drill "Philly Tom" - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: Greatest Hits (ECO Slipcase) (Audio CD)
The music on this able rates the average rating of 4-stars. What stops it are the "newer" songs. Bruce's music is so good a single disk is only scratching the surface. The Essential collection which came later is several disks long. The newer songs here were added to make the album more appealing. The songs are good but pale compared to the "Born To Run" through "Human Touch/Lucky Town" songs. The Eco-Friendly packaging stinks. I'm for the environment, but why did you have to remove the songs details, lyrics, pictures, etc.? What album is such-and-such song from? You'll never be able to learn that from this album. Save the environment but don't lose the artist in the process. 1 of 1 people found the following review helpful

Although it doesn't have every Bruce song I would like there is no other compilation that can beat this one!

If you are a Springsteen fan but not a hardcore "have-to-have-every-CD" fan, then this is probably a good collection for you. I've been listening to this in my car and really enjoying it. Most of his big hits are represented and also some cuts I've never heard before that are really great. (I could've done without Murder Incorporated but I have to admit it makes me smile every time I hear it because it reminds me of The Sopranos, and Steve Van Zant portraying Silvio Dante. What a guy!)Springteen is such a great songwriter and performer, he's definitely the Boss. Not too impressed with the packaging, but whatever! |
