1.0 out of 5 stars I'm calling it quits... Oct 8 2011
By Luna Eclipse - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
This series was at one time one of my favorites. Sure, the artwork is not too great at times, and the stories can be kinda silly, but they were always fun and interesting. The Pinocchio and Little Mermaid stories were especially awesome. But these days, the authors have chosen to abandon the "Tales From The Crypt"-like format in which Sela and Belinda read fairy tales to people in order to change their behavior for better or worse(which was a main draw for me) in favor of the much, MUCH less interesting and extremely contrived story surrounding the two women. In fact, starting around issue #57, fairy tales no longer factor into the story at all. Not only that, but the artwork has somehow gotten worse. It wasn't exactly awesome to begin with, but now it's just awful. I dunno, maybe the artwork hasn't changed at all. Maybe it just seems worse now that the story lines are so weak and boring.

Either way, I am officially done with this series. It was fun at first, but what was appealing to me is no longer there, and I feel that Sela, Belinda and Shang should have stayed in the background and kept the emphasis on the fairy tales. I mean, FAIRY TALES is right there in the title! From now on, I'm relying on Fables for all my fairy tale related comic book needs! (And you should too, trust me on this...)

3.0 out of 5 stars The NEW Grimm Fairy Tales. Mar 2 2013
By Zen - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
This is the volume when the story does change.
Volumes 1 to 5 are the classic stories by Grimm brothers ( and others ) twisted to the maximum for adult readers, in volumes 6 and 7 we see a Twilight Zone influence, but still a very pleasant read.
With this volume , everything is changing.
The stories has nothing to do with Grimm Fairy Tales anymore. The story moves into a different realm, with demons, with girls fighting each other, new characters appears out of nowhere and the hero of the series, Sela becomes from the modern Snow White to a super hero ''bad girl'', which i think it wasn't a really smart move. The stories are not that interesting anymore and kinda boring after couple of chapters. I also notice that the artwork is getting a little bit bad, compared to the previous volumes.
This ark story goes on till volume 12, when in the last chapter , Sela finally, return on Earth.

As i said before, i don't think it was a smart move to change the series from a degree to a total different one.
