The actual two-disc regular DVD edition of the film is not defective. However, the product description displayed by Amazon.Canada is woefully incorrect. The site promises that there are director commentaries for all of the faux trailers, that there are elongated versions of some of the trailers (such as WEREWOLF WOMEN OF THE SS), and that the Canadian trailer HOBO WITH A GUN is also included.
I'm sorry to report that NONE of those supplemental features appear on the regular (non Blu-Ray) edition of the two-disc set. I specifically ordered a copy of this item to get those supplemental extras, but they are not present in this set. I ended up getting two different copies, and the situation I have described applies to both copies. The two-disc edition of GRINDHOUSE (non Blu Ray) has only the same supplements that appeared on the separate DVD releases of PLANET TERROR and DEATH PROOF.
I suspect that Amazon.ca simply applied the specs for the Blu-Ray edition under their Product Description for the standard DVD version. If you want the extra and elongated trailers with their director commentaries, you probably need to purchase the Blu-Ray edition.
I hope that Amazon.ca will examine this situation and hopefully fix their incorrect listing of the supplements that can be found on the standard DVD edition. The transfer of the film (3 hours, 11 minutes) is fine, but the product description (supplements) is very misleading.
