From the Publisher

Why should you use GROUPED by Passage Type when preparing for the LSAT?

1) Contains a large quantity of practice problems. GROUPED by Passage Type provides you with 80 reading comprehension passages for you to practice on. Repetition is key when learning new concepts for the first time. You will find that the more you passages you do, the easier they become, and the faster you will be able to complete them.

2) Allows you to focus on your weaknesses. In order to truly master the LSAT, and achieve the best score possible, you must identify and conquer your weaknesses. This means repeatedly attacking the particular passage types that you are having trouble with. GROUPED by Passage Type does the hard work for you by sorting and grouping reading comprehension passages into chapters by type. This allows you to spend all of your time doing practice problems, rather than searching through a bunch of PrepTests looking for a particular passage type.

3) Keeps recent PrepTests pristine. Since the most recent PrepTests are the best indicators of your projected LSAT score, they should be left untouched and completed only in their entirety and under timed conditions in the weeks before the actual LSAT. Many other test preparation companies use passages from recent PrepTests as examples in their books, leading to skewed practice scores when students come across passages they have already seen. Traciela understands this--you will not have to worry about "spoiling" any of the newer PrepTests when using GROUPED by Passage Type. Our book is comprised solely of passages from PrepTests 1-20, allowing you to focus on and master the specific types of reading comprehension passages that you struggle with most, while being sure to keep the more recent PrepTests pristine.

4) Includes hard-to-find PrepTests. While the majority of PrepTests are readily available for purchase, there are a few "rare" PrepTests (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 8, and 17). GROUPED by Passage Type contains all Reading Comprehension sections from PrepTests 1-20, including these eight hard-to-find PrepTests.

5.0 out of 5 stars Grouped by Passage Type is Better Than Kaplan LSAT Mastery Practice, April 19 2010
By LSAT Blog "LSATblog.blogspot.com" - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: Grouped by Passage Type: LSAT Reading Comprehension - The Complete Collection of Actual, Official Reading Comprehension Passages from PrepTests 1-20 (Paperback)
In a few days, I will post a more detailed review of this book on my LSAT blog. However, I just wanted to briefly note that this book is much better than the previous alternative, Kaplan LSAT Mastery Practice.

Grouped by Passage Type contains every LSAT Reading Comprehension passage from PrepTests 1-20, so it includes some Reading Comp passages that are otherwise out-of-print and difficult to find in book form. It organizes Reading Comp passages according to various categories, but it also goes beyond the traditional Natural Science, Social Science Humanities, and Law categories.

For example, it divides Humanities passages into the categories of Art, Literature, and Music & Poetry.

The Kaplan Mastery book just sticks with the 4 basic categories and doesn't do a more detailed breakdown, which would allow you to focus on specific areas. (The Mastery Practice book also just includes a random assortment of passages.)

This book is definitely worth getting if you plan to go through Reading Comp passages in PrepTests 1-20.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great accompaniment to recent tests for Reading Comprehension practice., Oct 13 2010
By Kyle Singhal (Metroplex LSAT Prep) - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: Grouped by Passage Type: LSAT Reading Comprehension - The Complete Collection of Actual, Official Reading Comprehension Passages from PrepTests 1-20 (Paperback)
While this book is not sufficient to ensure success on the reading comprehension section, I use it regularly as an LSAT tutor with my students. Many students particularly dislike the passages about art or literature, and this book's categorization of passages by subject matter helps students to get over the psychological barrier associated with a given type of passage. It is true that the more recent tests have comparative reading passages that were not present in tests 1-20, but students would be wise to use the more recent tests for full-length test practice. This book is ideal for supplementary practice, or for practice on improving speed.

1.0 out of 5 stars Waste, April 19 2010
By LSAT 171 - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: Grouped by Passage Type: LSAT Reading Comprehension - The Complete Collection of Actual, Official Reading Comprehension Passages from PrepTests 1-20 (Paperback)
Let me preface this by saying that I have not, and will not be purchasing this book, because it is a waste of money. This book will sell you the RC from tests 1-20. The Lsat is currently around test 60, and the Reading Comprehension has dramatically changed since around test 40. They now how comparative reading sections and the sections are generally much harder than they were before. If you buy this book you will fool yourself into thinking that you're prepared for the reading comprehension section when you will not be. Do yourself a favor and go out and buy the actual recent tests here on Amazon.
