5.0 out of 5 stars A great book for those devastated by the tragedy of divorce, July 6 2000
This is the book you are looking for!

I have seen this book make an incredible difference in hundreds of lives. We have given away over 2500 copies of this book over the past 10 years at the Divorce Recovery Workshop which I lead (at Canton First Friends Church and at Willoughby Hills Friends Church). I have received very positive feedback from people who have read this book. Many have read the book over several times as a lifeline that helped keep their heads above water. Many pass their copies on to others who need a helping hand, too.

This book will be a good investment if you want to heal, recover, and grow. The choice that is offered to you in this book is: you can just go through your divorce, or, you can grow through it.

I have known hundreds who have done so, with the help of Jim Smoke's book, Growing Through Divorce.

2.0 out of 5 stars Obvious and Basic, Mar 30 2000
From my perspective, this book succeeded in stating the obvious elements/feelings/reactions to a divorce. As a woman, I found it patronizing at times as it added no enlightening perspective to such a traumatic situation. Smoke fails to be empathetic and understanding only explaining how one should and should not act. I finally put it down half way through.

5.0 out of 5 stars Must read if you are even thinking about divorce!, Nov 2 1999
By A Customer
Growing Through Divorce was a book I used one weekend in early 1983, to read and study along with a lot of prayer in making my final decision after many years in an abusive marriage and being miserable.

I was Determined that I would NOT be a divorce statistic for many years! I took my vows seriously! I never wanted a divorce! I didn't want to fail in this marriage nor did I want to disappoint God.

After a very relaxing weekend with some intense prayer, reading, LISTENING TO GOD and learning about our marriage, I came to peace with what I had to do; I came feel God's blessing in it all too.

I always keep at least 2 copies of this book for anyone who is even having a problem marriage as it also includes information on HOW TO LIVE WITH or understand aspects of the 7 typical couple types who end in divorce. I learned alot about myself and have had known friends who were able to salvage their marriage after reading this FIRST TOO.

AFTER my divorce, was involved in a wonderful Study Group at church we called, SOS = Starting Over Single.... another one of Jim Smoke's good books.

PRAY PRAY PRAY and then LISTEN to what GOD tells you.

Blessings, Linda Dempster S. CA. near the Chrystal Cathedral in Garden Grove.
