GROWING UP BY Dolores Ayotte—ANOTHER FIVE STAR!!!!!
By Author Cliff Roberts I was gifted this book in exchange for an honest review which was easy to do.

In “Growing Up” Dolores continues with the theme of her first book, “I’m Not Perfect and it’s Okay”.
Once again she provides sound advice and solid common sense wisdom that is sorely lacking in most books of this nature. She writes with humor and humility while providing the reader with helpful insight into dealing with our own trials in life.
It is truly a testimony to a wonderful transformation in the writer’s life that is sure to provide inspiration for the challenges that we all face.
I highly recommend this book and it needs to be placed on your book shelf right next her first book and referred to daily. This is a great book from a wonderful writer. Five Stars!!!!!

Practical Advice Straight from the Heart Oct. 27 2011
By rose anne daniels - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Perfect Paperback
"Growing Up and Liking It" by Dolores Ayotte is a delightful read that can be read straight through, or as I did, snippets at a time. Dolores shares many anecdotes and quotes meant for contemplation. If applied to life, the advice outlined here can take one from unhappiness and despair to joy and fulfillment. You will love this book and this author! A quote at the end of the book from Mother Teresa of Calcutta sums it up best. Dolores is just "a little pencil in the hand of a writing God who is sending a love letter to the world".

Great Book! June 21 2011
By Jeremy Cockerill - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Perfect Paperback
Dolores's book is filled with the wisdom gained from the painful experiences that came her way. Her ultimate goal in writing her book is to help others in their own suffering, so they may see a light of hope. Dolores's advice is practical and doable. I think that anyone who gets their hands on Growing Up & Liking It, will gain some tools to help them cope with life with a little more humor and a little less stress.

Add This One to Your Shelf! March 28 2013
By Amazon Customer - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Perfect Paperback
Growing Up and Liking It - 13 Steps to a Happier Self is the perfect sequel to I'm not Perfect and It's Okay. The author, Canadian Dolores Ayotte, once again gives down-to-earth practical advice that any woman would find valuable.

I'm Not Perfect and It's Okay, the author's previous book, left me with the feeling that I had just sat down with Dolores over a cup of coffee to get some good advice. Growing Up and Liking It, had me feeling much the same way. The advice is still sound and something we can all benefit from and Ayotte in her personable and likeable way, instantly makes the reader feel at home as she doles out her advice with anecdotes and quotes.

In fact, I don't think I've seen so many quotes in one book before. If anything, the author's pen name should be "the quote lady" as I'm certain she has a good one for every occasion! But,as she explains in her book, "Over the last 25 years, I have collected numerous quips, quotes, stories and newspaper articles." This is something that comes naturally to her and has helped enormously in her writing. Without the quotes, the book just wouldn't be the same.

I love the author's easy style of communicating with her readers. I can picture her at her desk, as she often stops in her writing to tell us what she is doing, or what her husband is doing while she is writing to us. Truly, she has a unique way of engaging the reader.

At the end of each chapter Ayotte has provided questions or suggestions on how to get started on having a happier life. I found that I took a long time reading this book, not because it was a large book, it is only 192 pages, but because I wanted to meditate on her suggestions.

I believe this is a good book for a woman's study, combined with her first book you would get a good dose of wisdom and timely advice from a woman who loves the Lord and genuinely longs to share what she has learned from following Him.

Growing Up and Liking It - 13 Step to a Happier Self, is one book you will want to add to your shelf!

Growing Up & Liking It March 8 2013

Growing Up & Liking It by Dolores Ayotte

Described by the author as the "second half of my suggestions for a happier self," Growing Up & Liking It is a companion to her first book, I'm Not Perfect and It's Okay. Based on her own struggles, Ms. Ayotte uses anecdotes and quotes to illustrate her thirteen suggestions. The book has a devotion feel to it and certainly could be used as such. She gives practical advice for applying tips like creating a dream board to post pictures and quotes for inspiration. I enjoyed the analogy of sunlight streaming in to expose dust on the floor being similar to opening our soul to God's light and allowing ourselves to see what needs to be cleaned and then doing so. She encourages the reader to grow spiritually and gain discernment. The book's goal is to use self-analysis to examine your life and its impact on others. Chapters on reducing stress, communication, how we choose to look at life, balance, and friendship encourage the reader to ask the tough why questions and get excited about life. One of my favorite quotes in the book is "`The rewards for those who persevere far exceed the pain that must precede the victory.' In the end, you will be victorious more often." Anyone looking for a plain-spoken self-help book won't be disappointed.

Humor, Joy & Inspiration!! Jan. 24 2012
By CK Webb - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Perfect Paperback
First things first... I am no fan of self-help books and have often found them boring with a `fake' feeling to them so, when Dolores asked me to review her novel Growing Up & Liking It, I was a little worried. I was worried over absolutely nothing! I found humor, joy, inspiration and stories that even I could relate with. Growing Up & Liking It is chopped full of quotes, laughs, philosophy and life lessons that everyone can use in their own lives every day. Dolores breaks down her advice into thirteen, easy to understand steps and she highlights them beautifully in thirteen chapters with quirky, little titles. Using a combination of experiences from her own life as a mother, grand-mother, teacher gardener and writer, the author finds a poignant way to relate to the reader on a truly human level. If you are searching for a way to get motivated and stay motivated then add this book to your library or Kindle.
I hope that everyone will give Growing Up & Liking It a chance and when you find yourself smiling as you read... don't say I didn't warn you!
