Product Description

'Grrr.' is the second album by brooklyn's pop savants, bishop allen, following the acclaimed debut, 'the broken string'. The core duo of christian rudder and justin rice (who have also made a name for themselves by starring in several indie flicks) pull out all stops to produce a contemporary pop classic, filled with the 13 most hummable sing-a-longy songs you'll hear in one place at one time. Produced by bryce goggin (pavement, lemonheads, antony & the johnsons, joan as police woman, the apples in stereo, luna, akron/family and more!). The band has had its songs feature in film soundtracks (such as nick & norah's infinite playlist) and on high profile tv commercials. Recommended for fans of vampire weekend, jonathan richman and spoon.

Awesome, fun stuff. June 5 2009
By Justin Sala - Published on Amazon.com
I don't really like writing reviews for things. Because, really, I'm not some word genius or anything. I'll go ahead and say, I'd never heard of these guys before the sale on this album (It is $5 at the time of this writing). I decided to give it a sample and loved it enough to purchase it. It's a really fun CD overall. Nothing too super dark about any of their songs. It has a great care-free vibe to it. Catchy lyrics and riffs are abound. They use a really cool instrumentation a lot of the time too. Utilizing xylophones/bells/etc... I highly recommend it.

Grrr... Music that makes you happy June 15 2009

Bishop Allen back again with more catchy pop music... these guys are great. Summer is here! Grab this one (especially now while it's $5!) and check out their other stuff too (like The Broken String). This is music that will make you happy.

Favorite tracks for me might be (1) Dimmer, (5) Oklahoma, (7) True or False, (10) Don't Hide Away... but really the whole album is good.

Bishop Allen are immediately likable; just solid, happy music -- you won't be disappointed.

This album is so disgustingly happy it will make you want to vomit... and that is why it is awesome.
Great album. Not so great quality control. July 12 2014

Don't get me wrong, I love the album. The shipping speed was also good (it got here on the earliest estimated date). This being said I still give it three stars. I don't know if atone else had this problem, but the record arrived slightly damaged. The cover was bent and on one side it had a small scratch on it. It wasn't a big enough deal to send it back for, but I would have appreciated better quality control on this.

I first heard this music on the film Private Romeo and downloaded the album hoping the rest of the tracks would be as good as the ones I had heard. I was NOT disappointed! Just a fantastically fun album.
