Product Description

Product Description

The guns of the Kree and the Shi'Ar have thundered - and there will be hell to pay! Star-Lord's Guardians spring into desperate action in an attempt to stop the planet-shattering battle, but will either side listen? If they don't, the walls of the galaxy will disintegrate! It's more mind-blowing cosmic heroics from the book that made CBR.com rave "if comics were movies, this would be the one people would be talking about all summer!" Collects Guardians of the Galaxy #13-17, and Marvel Spotlight: War of Kings.

4.0 out of 5 stars Exciting cosmic fun, May 6 2010
By Derrick O'Rourke "Prof. G. Tripp" - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: Guardians of the Galaxy - Volume 3: War of Kings - Book 2 (Paperback)
This book was really exciting. There were enough jaw dropping scenes in this book to last a complete series never mind one volume. I can't say an awful lot because I don't want to give anything away. The fun & excitement is waiting to see what happens next and what choices the characters will make. This is a great space comic series and one of my favourite reads at the moment. I can't wait for the next volume.

3.0 out of 5 stars Great series, not the greatest example, May 7 2010
By Kurt Conner - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: Guardians of the Galaxy - Volume 3: War of Kings - Book 2 (Paperback)
This book certainly isn't bad, but it's a bit of a disappointment in comparison to the earlier volumes of this title and the surprisingly compelling War of Kings story with which this ties in. For a few issues, the expanding cast of the book makes a logical split to address both the Shi'ar and Inhuman/Kree problems at once, then when they've killed enough time, they move into a time travel story with some interesting little quirks but something of an exhausted tone. The art is pretty inconsistent from chapter to chapter, as two very different artists trade off, but it's never bad. As is typical in a Guardians of the Galaxy book, there are some really funny moments, like everyone pointing out how stupid Martyr's codename is, and the gang hanging out at a bar called Starlin's, but the rest of the writing just isn't up to the standard set in earlier issues. I still recommend this book for fans of cosmic Marvel, especially new converts who have been lured in by the phenomenal Annihilation stories (and their aftermaths, of which this is a part), but it's not the best work in the genre, and it's not a good place to start.
