A must have for gamers,
By
This review is from: Guinness World Records 2012 Gamer's Edition (Paperback)
Greetings,There are books out there that are "nice" to have and then those that are a "must" have...this is one of those I "must" have. It is full of information pertaining to games that range form scores to statistics, pertaining to games themselves. If you have any interest in video games you have to own this. In addition to consoles, retro, and arcade, they even include sections of the most popular games found on iPhones, Android, etc. I purchased this book for my Middle School classroom for reading periods and there's always a group of kids happily going through it. Additionally, the pages are adorned with popular illustrations of video game characters and scenes from games that captivates even those who don't like to read. I previously purchased the 2010 edition and have no regrets buying this one. It's a great value for the plethora of neat things offered inside its cover! Cheers, Seadrive

I was really excited about getting this book and once I opened it, I quickly discovered that this was NOT what I was hoping it would be! If you're looking for "records" such as "Best-selling LIPS track" or "First Xbox 360 Movie Karaoke Game" then you're in LUCK! And yes,...those ARE, in fact, actual records included in this book. You can find records of best scores and such, but they are included at the very end and are hardly even recognized. All in all, I should've sent the book back, but maybe my 9 year old nephew will like it?!

Loved reading about new records being broken in the gaming world. Very recommended for hardcore fans. I enjoyed the 2011 edition a little bit more, but this is still great.

Nothing Like it Used to Be,

If you are looking for the book you grew up with, keep looking. This is a very lazy effort, consisting mostly of silly statistics rather than interesting records.
