Guitar Hero was the first rhythem game I have ever played. I wanted to play it but that meant that i had to buy it because they don't have this game to rent. i made the choice to buy a $95 video gane that was a genre i've never played before, and am i glad i did. you start off on easy which is, well, easy. luckily you are able to unlock all but 5 songs by beating easy. then you have to do medium which is a little harder. it requires you to use your pinky which isn't ordinarily a gaming finger. after a few songs i was scoring 95% or better on most songs. after medium comes hard(duh) which is hard. i havn't finished the game on medium but i have played some songs on hard and they are hard. you have to shift your hand as you have to push 5 buttons with only 4 fingers. after practice it should become natural. i havn't tried any songs on expert and i don't plan to anytime soon. i find hard hard enough as it is. There is also a great song list. There are a few that aren't that great but even if you don't like the song it's still fun to play it. the game only costs $30 more than an ordinary game which is reasonable condidering you get the guitar controller which is of great quality. Multyplayer is a lot of fun. you and a friend go head to head to see who can play the song better. sometimes you have to play part of the song without your friend and sometimes he has to play without you, and sometimes you both play at the same time. I'll will definetely buy Guitar Hero 2 (assuming there is going to be one, here's hoping!)

You're gonna want to rock out when you play this game. Guaranteed. Simple enough premise, build a guitar simulator type of game (it's been done before after all), but the thing is, the game does that job REALLY WELL.

Warning: extremely addictive. Look for a nearby GH addicts support group before playing. The song list is not incredibly long, but it's dense, and you will want to play these songs over and over again.

Would've liked to see a practice mode for going over parts of songs, but other than that, awesome package. Durable controller you can rock pretty hard with, solid gameplay, excellent production values... worth the extra 40 or so bucks over your typical title.

5.0 out of 5 stars What you've heard is true., Feb 7 2006
This review is from: Guitar Hero 1 (With Guitar) (Video Game)
It's true that this is pretty much the best rythm action game out there. Excellent music, a perfectly paced learning curve, and a sturdy and reliable controller come together into one excellent package. If you're a fan of Frequency, Amplitude, Donky Konga, or even Parappa the Rapper, this is a must. Just accept the $100 price tag, and prepare to ROKK!.
