Book Description

Feb. 26 2008 Last Gunfighter
Yuma Prison is a fetid hellhole filled with the dregs of humanity - killers, thieves and backstabbers who'd kill over a scrap of meat. Now it's home to Frank Morgan, who's posing as an inmate. A ruthless outlaw named Cicero McCoy has buried a fortune in stolen bank money in a harsh, desolate little piece of hell known as Ambush Valley. To get Cicero to lead him to the loot, Frank has become Cicero's new best friend behind bars - and co-plotter of a daring breakout. Soon, the last gunfighter and a stone-cold killer are blazing away at enemies on both sides of the law. Until the time comes for Frank Morgan to make a fatal choice - and for one of them to die...

5.0 out of 5 stars Good April 20 2008
By Happy Maggie - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Mass Market Paperback
I was just as pleased with this book as with others in the last gunfighter series. I congratulate J.A. JOHNSTONE on completing the books left unfinished by William W. Johnstone in his own inimitable style. Zane Grey's heirs have been equally successful in their approach. I only wish the heirs of Ralph Compton (another of my favourite western authors) had been so careful. The Johnstone and Grey families are a shining example for other heirs of great popular authors to follow.

1.0 out of 5 stars poor Feb. 20 2014

This was not a typical Johnstone book. The hero produced and won out by accident more than his own doings.
Altho the ending was a surprise, I literally had to force myself to finish reading the book.
3.0 out of 5 stars I don't do book reviews Feb. 18 2014
By William Brown - Published on Amazon.com

Like most of this author's work ; too bad he's no longer with us. Also like his nephew's ( J.A. Johnstone ) follow up series, ' The Loner ", most of them anyway.
I don't do individual book reviews, so please don't ask again.
