Product Description

Product Description

Antimony Carver is a precocious and preternaturally self-possessed young girl starting her first year of school at gloomy Gunnerkrigg Court, a very British boarding school that has robots running around along side body-snatching demons, forest gods, and the odd mythical creature. The opening volume in the series follows Antimony through her orientation year: the people she meets, the strange things that happen, and the things she causes to happen as she and her new friend, Kat, unravel the mysteries of the Court and deal with the everyday adventures of growing up. Tom Siddell's popular and award-winning webcomic (www.gunnerkrigg.com) is here collected in print for the first time.

I'm very happy with this purchase. I wanted to support the author of this webcomic and this is a great way to do it, by purchasing this book. The hardcover book looks and is very nicely made. I do hope Tom continues to release more hardcover books for his webcomic as I know I will continue to buy them.

5.0 out of 5 stars Easily one of the best stories I've ever read., Dec 27 2010
This review is from: Gunnerkrigg Court Volume 1: Orientation (Hardcover)
I reread this again today, and just felt I had to give a review.
While the art may look a little pointy at the beginning, his style quickly starts to take substance. It's a really cool experience reading through and seeing how each chapter looks progressively more polished than the last.
The story is told with great care as well. It deftly switches between arcs which push the story forward, and chapters that are just for fun (and never feel like filler).
Basically you should buy this (and know that if you like this, the second book is even better still).
