An absolutely wonderful series. I just wish they would stop making these in "volumes" and release whole seasons and more frequently.

With all the crap that's on TV - and I'm really sick of "Reality" shows, these DVD's and other old TV series are about all I watch anymore.

Well worth the money if you are a western fan and enjoy TV without swearing every other word, without someone "getting laid" every episode etc.,..... and stupid computer generated special effects.

------------ IT PAYS TO COMPLAIN ------------ Oct. 3 2011

HOORAY! SOMEONE AT PARAMOUNT MUST BE READING THESE CUSTOMER REVIEWS!!!

Gunsmoke, Season 5, Vol. 2 is scheduled to be released on December 13, 2011 - Just 2 months after the October 11, 2011 release date for Season 5, Vol. 1 - and JUST IN TIME FOR CHRISTMAS!!!

Thank you, Paramount.

Remember Paramount was the studio that cancelled the original Star Trek TV series and was swamped with so many viewer complaints that they brought the series BACK.

These reviews ARE worth the effort. Keep up the pressure. Let the studios know what you want for your hard-earned cash. And place your "Pre-Orders" early - I've already placed mine. Nothing encourages studios to issue more releases like customers putting their money where their mouths are.

NOW IF WE CAN JUST GET PARAMOUNT TO INCLUDE SOME EXTRAS WITH FUTURE RELEASES...

Gunsmoke - The Fifth Season - Vol. 2 Dec 3 2011
By C. Planck - Published on Amazon.com
Great news for Gunsmoke fans! Paramount have quickly announced yet another installment in their efforts to put out this lengthy series on DVD. Season 5, Volume 2 will feature some of the show's best episodes including "Jailbait Janet," "The Bobsy Twins" and "Old Flame" (featuring Marilyn Maxwell) all newly remastered. For Gunsmoke fans, this is not to be missed!!

Another must for any Gunsomke fan! Oct. 17 2011
By Robert G. Martinez - Published on Amazon.com
What's there not to like. You get 20 episodes in pristine condition, classic Good against Evil. This covers late 1959-early 1960. Great production. What I especially like is that they are only 25 minutes long each, which makes it a good time killer while waiting for the news, or dinner. Extra bonus, Some of th4e old commericials that aired in 1959-60 brings back many memories. Essential for any fan!

As 2011 comes to a close, it's nice that Paramount has released 5 complete seasons of Gunsmoke. I have bought them all, Paramount...so keep 'em comin'! Thanks for the continuing 5 star quality on this series too! A happy customer...

Gunsmoke April 6 2012

I have enjoyed the fifth season of Gunsmoke. Although the first 5 seasons are in black and white the picture is of great quality as are the stories. I have not seen these older episodes on reruns as I have the later years that were in color. Dennis Weaver is great as Chester and it is good to see Doc, Miss Kitty and Matt in their younger years.
