As a first time mother, you feel overwhelmed right from the start. This book helps a great deal in elevating the stressful feeling of boredom and giving my son positive and beneficial stimulation. I would recommend this book to any mother even second time moms.

There is nothing fancy in this book, it basically says use every daily activity as an opportunity to play with your baby. A lot of "ways" that is counted in the 1001 aren't really any activity, it is what it claims: a way of interaction. I don't feel I've learned a lot from the book, definitely not as impressed by the content as the "1001" title.

Some activities are a little 'well, duh' but all in all you'd expect that in a book of 1001 ways to do anything.

Otherwise, pretty good book. Would recommend.

The first thing that I used from this book is the blanket ride which turned out to be fun for both my daughter and me. Then I made a crown. Morning surprise - coronation.
You can pat yourselves on the things you already do.
Its interesting to know why some activities like role play, taking care of dolls develop baby's skills.

Fun Book Feb. 21 2013

I am a stay at home mom and this book gives me some great ideas to play and learn with my daughter. Some of the ideas are simple, like #300 "Give Blanket Rides, sit or lay your child on a blanket, then gently and slowly pull the blanket, try different directions" My daughter LOVED this.
Now why didnt I think of that?

I like that it is sepearted into different chapters.
(0+, 3months+, 6 months+, 9months+, 12months+, 18months+, 24months+ 30months +, 3years+, 4years+, 5years+)
Just when we have mastered most of the items in one chapter, she is old enough to move to the next.

Also, the pages have brightly colored drawings which makes it fun to read. I will be giving this as a baby shower give from now on.

I like this book and so do my kids (ages 4, 2, & 4months). A lot of the activities are very simple and require little to no materials, which is wonderful as I don't want to spend a lot off time gathering materials for a 10 minute activity. I have a degree in early childhood education so a lot of these activities are not 'new' to me, but I find it a great resource to grab when the kids are bored as I can't always think of something off the top of my head.

Many tips are common sense but it's nice to have a book to remind me of these when I hardly have time to find ideas on my own.
