5.0 out of 5 stars VERY Informative book on the Gyrfalcon Oct. 6 2005
By Amazon Customer - Published on
This book is a great information pertaining to the gyrfalcon. But this book is not for the layman. You have to have a biology background to understand what the information is telling you. The authors take all the studies and research of the gyr and put it all into this book. But all and all, I agree, this book will answer any questions one would have of the gyr. As a falconer, raptor educator of the gyr, I have learn alot about this wonderful species that I did not find in other souces.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great bird, great book! Jan. 19 2014
By The Siberian - Published on
What an exciting collection of the facts on biology of this extraordinary bird. The authors return the old Linnean Latin name to the species (Falco gyrfalco) and justify their opinion with the plethora of Zoological Nomenclature clause. A great new story of the history of the development of the Gyrfalcon as a species and a their relationships with the Saker Falcon. From Pleistocene via falconry of medieval times to the current biology and conservation concerns under one cover. Exemplary book!
