De rebondissement en coup de théâtre, impossible de décrocher avant la fin. J. K. Rowling parvient toujours à étonner son lecteur et le tenir en haleine, entre rire et frisson, avec un style vivant, dynamique et allègre, qui procure un vrai plaisir de lecture. This was a wonderful easy read! I loved it in French! Just as great as the English version. Also a great read for teens.

Having read all the books in English, I picked this up to see what I could make of it. It is extremely well-edited; it keeps the important plot points and preserves all the flavor of the original book. Reading it in French, I noticed some subtle (and really adorable) things that I missed in English, simply becuase I had to read more carefully. I kept my dictionary close at hand, but it really is written on the level of, probably, a 9-year-old.

While this translation stays true to the main story and its characters, I notice a few things that are omitted completely. Unfortunately, these are all of the bits of sundry details that helped to paint the Wizarding world more vividly in the English version.

The book offers an exciting way to read Harry Potter again. It's cool to see the ways in which the French and American versions differ and ways in which it was altered. I think if someone was looking for Harry Potter with a bit more descriptive fluff, then the French version is best. Overall I loved it.
