This makes it useless to me unless DisplayLink will give me their data ... July 8 2014

I just took delivery of this device on 7/8/2014. I purchased it because some of the reviews mentioned it uses the UFX chipset from SMSC (Microchip). I specifically bought this device to use with an embedded system because SMSC publishes the USB data book that describes the USB Bulk, Command, and Interrupt pipe transfers used to control their UFX chip, which is what you need if you want to write your own driver (yes this can be done, and is not as hard as you might think). I did a search on UFX7000 here on Amazon, and this device came up, so I bought it after reading in older reviews that it used the UFX. Unfortunately for me, this device no longer uses that chipset, and now uses the DisplayLink chip. This makes it useless to me unless DisplayLink will give me their data book, which I doubt. Many companies won't divulge that info the way SMSC has, so it is likely this device is useless to me. If you are looking for the SMSC UFX7000 chip, this device does not have it!

Good Product, bad driver cd Jan. 5 2012

The device came with a mini-cd for the drivers, which my computer couldn't read. After looking online for the driver, and failing to find it I emailed the company (sanoxy). With in about a minute someone wrote back to me with a link to the driver online. Ran it, and now have my extra monitor running fine.

Location of the driver online [...]

This product just works... It works really well. However, Drivers were a problem as another reviewer wrote... And in Windows 8, it didn't work at all UNTIL...

I found that SMSC is the manufacture of the chip in the device. I went to [...] and requested a developer login. Once received (Took 2 days) I downloaded the latest drivers for the UFX. Their web site is not that great, but if you download "UFX6000/UFX7000 Windows Device Driver" it should kick on and work without a reboot.

Just FYI for everyone.

I have tried to use this adapter over the past 2 years and sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. Updated drivers and that doesn't help. There must be a better usb to HDMI adapter on the market. My setup was for 3 monitors. 2 monitors on 1 3gig card a 1 monitor on this card.
Not durable Sept. 12 2013

I have used DisplayLink products for years.
I have two of these that worked wonderfully for about a year.
Both are now paperweights.
I expect better durability.
