The illustrations in this book are a wonder for the eyes. The biologist who did the illustrations was more than a scientist, but also an artist. These images can be found on the web in many places, but the benifit to buying the book is to have the quality printed pages and a disk for easy use.

This book only has a subsection of Haeckel's prints. There are NO VERTEBRATES and almost NO PLANTS, despite claiming to have "turtles and hummingbirds" on the back cover. It does have a bunch of his protist drawings.The quality of the prints in the book is good, but they all have numbers next to them, so you can't frame them.
The pictures in the CD are of poor quality, small, and pixelated. They are adequate for a small picture on a Powerpoint slide, but at full screen size, the pixels are obvious.

This book provides Haeckel designs in simple format, easy to use for copying or for inspiration purposes. The CD is really worthwhile, allowing for easy printing for tracing or projecting line drawings. Great resource.
