Got this deep fryer because many of the parts are removable and the heating element is immersion-style. The oil pan and lid being removable makes it easier to clean than our last deep fryer. Immersion-style heating resulted in reduced wait time during and in between batches.

We fry and dump many frozen foods without thawing and drying excess water so condensation forms almost all around the fryer.

Would've preferred if the timer was digital, the timer alert sound was louder, and it alerted with a sound when the oil is ready. For its price and features, it's still a decent purchase.

Fast and easy setup.
No complicated instructions, just one dial to turn on and set the time and one for temperature.
The magnetic power plug is a great safety feature.

No problems so far.

I sometimes have cravings for "fresh" fries or my homemade nonion rings, but I didn't want to pay 100$ + for something I would use maybe once or twice per month.

This item was easy to assemble, instructions were clear and it is easy to use. Doesn't take much space, about the same size as my toaster (1 and a half in length) I do love the fact that plug is magnetic, so if you were to accidently move it, it quickly unplugs itself which helps avoid any disasters.

Ideal for one or two people!

Bought for mom on Mother's Day. The price was less than half of the one that I paid for in a retail store.

Very satisfied - still working after nearly 2 years! Dec 27 2012
By Love the New Tech - Published on Amazon.com
Sometimes you just want to do your own deep fry food. I would say I use my fryer 3 to 4 times a week.
Fried potatoes (fresh and frozen) are the standard usages, but I also use it for fried shrimp, chicken patties and strips, and breaded fish. I don't go to the fast food joints as much as I use to. If you have a George Foreman type grill and one of these deep fryers. You can do some quick late night burger and fries type meals without leaving home.

I have an 8 cup fryer, but I've learned over time that you can get by on 7 to 6 cups of oil. It's gets hotter faster and it fries fresh cut potatoes in 12 to 15 minuets. People have complained that they can't fry fresh cut french fries, I think it's because they try to fill the basket. All I can say is.... Don't do that! Less than half of the basket in height is suggested 1/3 the height of the basket with the fryer at maximum heat (pre-heated) for at least 10 min or until the ready light is on is perfect.

I wish that you could buy additional baskets for the fryer but I don't see that option. It's large enough for two small servings or one large serving depending on what you are frying. If you are frying chicken wing's or drum sticks you're fine, anything larger, I'm not too sure would work very well with this fryer.

I will definitely look for this fryer and buy another one when mine goes ka-plunk, but so far it's working just fine!

I hope you find this review helpful.

No Complaints Here! Jan. 31 2013

I purchased this as a Christmas present for my husband and he loves it! So far, he has made fries and wings with it and both were delicious. It's easy to use, easy to clean, and easy to store. I gave 4 stars instead of 5 because the viewing window is a worthless feature, but it doesn't impact our ability to properly use the product so, no big deal.

Nice for small batches..... Jan. 22 2013
By my2cents - Published on Amazon.com
Love how easy this is to clean and change oil but the small capacity makes frying for family of 4 take forever. If you are single or a couple this will probably work great for you, otherwise invest a little more money in getting something that can hold more food in one fry batch. I used this to fry catfish but had to cut down the fillets to nuggets just to get it to fit in fry basket - took a long time to cook that way. I also found frying bone in chicken took way too long, boneless worked much better. Breading was practically burned on the outside but the middle, near bone, was still raw after twenty minutes of cooking.

Ok for snacks, too small for meals Sept. 19 2014
By JRB - Published on Amazon.com
I always wanted a deep fryer and this model was so deeply discounted by a major retailer that I caved in and bought it.

I've used this for fish, chicken wings, french fries, and empanadas. I've been happy with how the food turned out. I would have been happier if the picture on the box wasn't so misleading. There is no way it will fry the amount of chicken pictured. A 1 1/2 inch thick layer of food is about all you can put in the basket and still have it immersed in oil. That means I can fry a single serving of fries, a single small fish filet, 8 wing pieces, or a single empanada at a time. The small capacity limits its usefulness for meals unless you're willing to run back and forth to make small batches. Fish and chips for 2 people would have to be cooked in at least 4 batches. By the time it's all done the first batch will be cold so it can't be served like a normal meal.

For the type of usage I was hoping to get out of this the Presto 06006 Kitchen Kettle Multi-Cooker/Steamer or Presto 06003 Options Electric Multi-Cooker/Steamer look like much better alternatives.

I use Mazola 100% Corn Oil - 1 gal. which has the same smoke temperature as peanut oil and costs less than $10 a gallon at my local supermarket. I also disregard the manufacturers instructions by filling it slightly above the max fill line and cooking everything at the 375 degree setting.
