Overall I liked this product but every time I use it I'm reminded of its design flaws. Lets start with the worst one. Using it whe way its designed you would have the handle to the front with the power switch, temp setting and timer facing you. Seems fine. Until you start frying. If you need to set the time or adjust the temp you need to reach across the front of the fryer. With the lid on the vent is right in front of those knobs and thats where the steam rises. The risk of being burnt by the steam is HIGH. You cant access the dials in safe way other than covering the steam with a cloth or something. There is also no filters of any kind for the venting area like I've seen with so many other fryers. Why I'm not sure. There in a time alarm you can set but no bells of whistles that tell you when the pre-heat is ready other than a light that goes green. a big light too that serves no other purpose. Having said all that you may be surprised that I still like this fryer. It cooks incredibly well. Just a few things that could be improved on.

I should preface this by saying I've never used a dedicated deep fryer before - my frying experience has been limited to dutch ovens filled with oil.

This fryer is much less hands-off than those, which is nice. It doesn't get as hot as you can with your own pot, naturally, but the same can be said of any fryer. The magnetic cord does come off very easily, which again is true of pretty much any electric fryer.

This one is a good size, reasonably priced compared to similar size models, and the in-oil heating element does seem to allow it to maintain the temperature well enough, even when you lower in a substantial number of frozen fries. I have not been hugely experimental with it yet, with fries, chips, chicken, avocado, and falafel being my only attempts. None came out greasy, which was nice (and a tiny bit surprising given that I know the unit's limitation on oil temperature). It also heats up to 375 quite fast - somewhere in the neighbourhood of 5-10 minutes, though I never actually timed it.

Cleaning it is easy enough. The lid is mostly useless (and its window moreso as it accumulates steam instantly and you can't see a thing through it) so you may simply not use it and skip cleaning it entirely, the element/control unit comes out and wipes down and the actual oil tray seems to be the same as some of those metal buffet steamer bins, though I'm not sure if sizes are identical in the event you need to replace it. I cannot imagine the pan would go before the electrical components, though.

so far so good, like the fact that it has the light to indicate when it's at the desired temperature. the only drawback is the lid, I wish you could lift the lid with it still staying attached rather than having to remove it.

it is very big, emits laot of steam, so mich so that once my fire alarm went off, but it does the job well. Somewhat of a hassle to clean but i just stick it in the dishwasher now. overall, very good for what you pay for.

Great for the price.
Everything as advertised.
Have been using it regularily.
Not like the Black and Deckers that die immediately.
I will get a slightly larger unit next time.
