Don't waste your money on this mixer.
I received one as a gift about a year and a half ago, and was very excited to have a stand mixer. But the excitement was short-lived because it didn't really function the way a stand mixer should. Regardless of bowl position (there are two), it didn't efficiently incorporate ingredients, but needed a lot of scraping to push the items being mixed into the path of the beaters.
Taking the mixer on and off the stand, I pinched myself very badly. I didn't find it well designed for that and other reasons. It was difficult to hold and control off the stand. The handle was too big, and slippery.
I used this mixer about four times. Last night I decided to use it to make peanut butter cookies. While mixing in the eggs I noticed a hot electric smell. Although I stopped and started the mixer periodically to measure and add ingredients, when I began to add the flour, smoke began to pour from the unit. I've only used it five times and it's toast. I contacted Hamilton Beach, and I'm out of luck.
I will be going back to my 25-year-old Black and Decker hand mixer which has hundreds of running hours on it and is still going strong.
