I have had this bread maker for awhile now, possibly even a whole year. The reason I bought this one is because it was on sale (purchased at Sears), and it had good reviews, and I needed to replace my old bread maker, a Black & Decker B900SC (no longer available). My B&D was used 2-3 times a week for probably three years and it finally just couldn't do it anymore (motor was failing, paddle and pan were no longer non-stick). Anyway, I thought they would all basically be the same, but unlike my old machine, I have had an extremely hard time getting good bread (or anything else) from this machine. I even stopped using it and just went back to buying bread because I was always so frustrated. I assume it operates correctly, as I have no reason to assume otherwise, but generally, the loaves I get are either too dense or uneven. In my old machine, I could try anything, following the recipe to the letter, and always get what I expected to get. I baked all sorts of different breads & doughs from a Bread Machine cookbook (not associated with any brand), and everything always came out alright. Not so with this bread maker. I just tried to make bagels using the dough cycle and a tried and true recipe and the dough came out sticky and way too soft to even work with, and then the "bagels" fell apart during boiling. This never happened with my old machine, and I know what to expect when bagel dough comes out of the machine by now. I'm just unhappy with this thing. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone who seriously makes bread at home. Sigh.
