This review is from: Hang On Ramsey/Wade In The Wat (Audio CD)
The sound quality on this CD is excellent. Most of what I have from this era is vinyl records of Lewis with his trio, with their attendant pops and clicks, so this is a refreshing upgrade in terms of the clean, remastered sound.
I would give "Hang on Ramsey" five stars. "Hard Day's Night", "Real Gone Guy", "Billy Boy", "The More I See You", "Satin Doll" and "Hang on Sloopy" are all great. You get a nice mix of fast moving and slower songs here, with a taste of the night club atmosphere (some understated clapping, cheering, hooting and hollering).
"Wade in the Water" has less of a night club atmosphere and more of an orchestral feel. "Wade in the Water", "Uptight" and "Day Tripper" are my favourites.
I would recommend this one over "Best Of" (2002 CD). It is a little more money but the better sound quality and wider selection of songs are well worth it.
