About the Author

#1 New York Times bestselling author Stephanie Laurens began writing as an escape from the dry world of professional science, a hobby that quickly became a career. The author of more than 50 works, her novels set in Regency England have captivated readers around the globe, making her one of the romance world’s most beloved and popular authors.

Growing up on Long Island, New York, Jacquie D'Alessandro fell in love with romance at an early age. She dreamed of being swept away by a dashing rogue riding a spirited stallion. When her hero finally showed up, he was dressed in jeans and drove a Volkswagen, but she recognized him anyway. They married after both graduating from Hofstra University and are now living their happily-ever-afters in Atlanta, Georgia. They have one grown son, who is a dashing rogue in the making. The author of more than thirty historical and contemporary romances, Jacquie loves to hear from readers and can be contacted through her website.

Candice Hern is the award-winning author of historical romances set during the English Regency, a period she knows well through years of collecting antiques and fashion prints of the era. She travels to England regularly, always in search of more historical and local color to help bring her books to life.

New York Times bestselling, multi-award-winning author Mary Balogh grew up in Wales, land of sea and mountains, song and legend. She brought music and a vivid imagination with her when she came to Canada to teach. There she began a second career as a writer of books that always end happily and always celebrate the power of love.

5.0 out of 5 stars LyndaK April 2 2011
By Lynda K
Format:Mass Market Paperback
The last story in the anthology made the book. While the first three stories were very good reads, Candice Hern stole the show. In, "Fate Strikes a Bargain", Nat was a second son (very handsome), ordered to marry, yet suffering from the effects of the war and going about in society. Philippa was on her third season and physically far from perfect. She had a very pronouced limp from a displaced hip. I found it refreshing that the male lead of the story could look beyond that and the two "misfits" actually fit very well together. Both characters had the courage and fortitued to make the best of their lives, but discovered strengths in each other that made them better together. I have never read any of Hern's books but I will be checking them out in the future.

1.0 out of 5 stars disappointed Nov 14 2011
By Sharn
Format:Mass Market Paperback
I was disappointed in this book. I am a big fan of Stephanie Laurens but more of her earlier books than her more current ones. I am looking for a interesting romance but her plot now always seems to have a massive "catch the bad guy" theme. As this was a smaller novel (3 stories in one book), I was hoping the theme was focused on the main characters and their relationship with each other, unfortunately this was not the case. I skipped through to the last story and because there was no sparks, I didn't even finish it. I ended up giving the book away to the library.

5.0 out of 5 stars Review of "It Happened One Season" Jun 17 2011
By Radar
Format:Mass Market Paperback
I really enjoyed this book. It was very interesting how each author addressed the challenge which is stated at the beginning of the book. I agree with LyndaK in that the last story was refreshing in it's pairing of two misfits. I found all four stories satisfying, although an epilogue for the first would have been nice.
