Product Description

From Amazon

Hats are apparently back, and the funkier the better, especially where kids are concerned. This fun little book explains how to make more than 20 hats and variations, with complete instructions and full-size patterns in both adult and children's sizes. Berets, balaclavas, sun hats, baseball caps, grunge caps, several international-flavored styles (Russian, Incan, Afghan farmer)--all are charming and fairly easy to make. Whip some up in fleece, wool, cotton, jersey--whatever's lying around in your scrap basket, since most projects take less than half a yard and less than an hour. --Amy Handy

Book Description

Fun and quick projects for entry-level sewers or time-starved experts. Complete instructions and full-sized patterns (in both children and adult sizes) are included for 22 fun and casual hats -- designed to keep heads warm and protect them from exposure. Ideas for adding personal touches are found throughout.

4.0 out of 5 stars make soft simple hats!, Oct 17 2001

This review is from: Happy Hats and Cool Caps: To Sew for the Whole Family (Paperback)
This is a great book for making yourself an assortment of simple soft caps and hats (especially in polar fleece). All instructions are included for adults and kids except for the baby bonnet which is only for little ones. I was especially pleased to see that there are instructions at the end for change the brim to suit your taste. There are pictures of all of the hats on people's heads in different fabrics, so you can see what they look like. It also includes patterns for a shawl, muffler, earwarmers, and mittens.

It is really more about sewing than millinery, so I would avoid it if you want to make classic felt-style hats. Classic Millinery Techniques by Ann Albrizo is the book you'd want for that style of hatmaking.
