2.0 out of 5 stars "HISSING SERPENT" Didn't Have Much Hiss To It Nov 23 2005
By A Customer
Format:Hardcover
Frank and Joe are asked by a wealthy balloonist to protect him and a life size chess piece known as the Ruby King which is presented to the world champion chess player. It seems that he is frightened by a mysterious balloon with serpent design on it. According to Mr.Krassner his life is in jeapordy. While ballooning with their buddy Chet Morton they see the serpent balloon and are immediately fired upon.

In the ground and air Frank and Joe find themselves targets to the serpent gang. Together the clues lead Frank and Joe to Hong Kong where they believe the Ruby King has been taken.

The book wasn't very interesting and was terribly slow paced. It had very little action and adventure and the ending didn't pose much of challenge for the Hardys. It just seemed way to easy.

I thought that this was a pretty good book because there are lots of actions and good scenes in there. Once I started to read the book, I couldn't put it down until I was finished with it. So I highly reccomend you to read it.

1.0 out of 5 stars Drab Jan 16 2003
Format:Hardcover
This is certainly one of the worst books in the series not to be outdone by a few others. The book is packed with an adequate amount of action - yet it was still rather difficult to remain interested. The brothers are hardly in Bayport, the writing is weak, and the is little to no mystery whatsoever. The theme is ballooning and naturally it is Chet's hobby. ... The brothers had a lot of interaction with the criminals which was good, and I rank this a strong one star, but not deserving of a 2. RATED D.
