Product Description

Amazon.ca Product Description

Roul'Pat pastry mats are made of woven glass coated with food-standard silicone. Used daily by professionals, the sheets are ideal for multipurpose uses such as preparing, cooking, and heating up food. They're easy to clean--simply wipe them off using hot water and dish soap. Store them by either rolling them up or keeping them flat. Do not cut the pastry mats with metal, but with DeMarle Exoglass cutters or knives. Roul'Pat pastry mats stick to your worktop, making them ideal for rolling out any kind of dough. The mats are made in France.

Product Description

This reusable non-adherent silicone pastry mat turns your countertop into a non-stick workstation. Made for kneading or rolling out dough with ease, place the Roul'Pat on your countertop and use when preparing bread, pizza, pie, or cookie dough. Also excellent for rolling gumpaste and fondant, sugarwork, and chocolate. The mat is coated with silicone on both sides, providing a non-stick rolling surface on top and a bottom surface which prevents the mat from moving on the counterop. The pastry mat is heat-resistant, pliable, flexible, and wipes clean.
Size: 16½ × 24½; fits a full size baker's sheet (18" × 26")
Dimensions: 24½"L × 16½"W
Materials: Woven glass fabric impregnated with food grade silicones
Care: To clean, wipe with a damp sponge after each use to remove crumbs or particles. If washing is required, lay the mat in the sink and run warm water over the surface. Use a mild soap or detergent with a soft sponge to clean the surface. Do not use any scrapers or hard brushes. Shake off excess water and hang or lay flat on surface to dry. Store on a flat tray, hang with a clothes pin, or roll; do not fold. Never cut or use sharp objects on the surface.
Product of France
Kosher pareve (Metropolitan Kashruth Council of Michigan)
Place the pastry mat on a flat surface with the smooth side facing up (logo up)
NOTE: A slightly oily residue after washing is normal. A slight discoloration of the mesh is normal after use. Hearty flavoured foods may leave a trace scent on the mats. After drying, lay the mat flat for storage or store between 2 cookie sheets or rolled up.

5.0 out of 5 stars Superb product Oct 28 2011
This is such an excellent product. Until you use one, you will not know how useful it is. I store it rolled around my rolling pin, and when I unroll it, it lies perfectly flat. Use just a tiny bit of flour on it to roll out pastry dough or to knead bread, so the baked goods are lighter and more tender. Nothing sticks to it. Keeps your countertop from getting flour all over it, and the Roulpat just wipes clean with a damp paper towel. And it never moves while you are kneading or rolling dough.
I really love this product. Expensive but so worth it. Don't buy cheaper imitations - they don't perform nearly as well.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Pastry Mat Mar 30 2013

I purchased this primarily to roll out Pizza Dough as required, on the kitchen table. It stays where you put it, and does not move around, as wax paper would move. Very easy to clean and a breeze to store.

5.0 out of 5 stars A great, but expensive, addition to the kitchen Sep 14 2005
By Debbie Lee Wesselmann - Published on Amazon.com
The French-made Roul'pat, like its cousin the Silpat, is a flexible silicon mat enclosing a thin, fiberglass mesh for durability. The Roul'pat is designed for creating a non-skid work surface for rolling out and kneading dough. The tacky surface adheres to the counter without clinging to the dough, making it easier to roll out thin pastry crusts and the like. Because the mat is flexible, the transfer of a pie crust to pan is a cinch. Dipped chocolates don't stick, nor does fondant. At sixteen and a half inches by twenty-four, the surface is expansive enough for most recipes. The only drawback to this unusual mat is the inability to cut on it, ruling out anything that requires a cookie cutter or knife. The manufacturer also warns against folding and scraping the surface.

I find the Roul'pat works best on pie crusts, pizza dough, chocolate, and flatbreads (or any bread dough that requires rolling or shaping.) Clean up is simple - wipe with a damp sponge and rinse. Mild soap can be used if needed, although I try to keep the surface detergent free. (The Roul'pat is not dishwasher safe.)

This makes a fantastic gift for cooks who seem to have everything.

3.0 out of 5 stars Great on some dough, not so great on others. Dec 23 2004
By jsprag - Published on Amazon.com
Works pretty well on "dry" dough like breads and cinnamon rolls. Moister doughs like pastry still require some flour. Cleans up very easily and doesn't slide around at all unless the counter underneath is wet.

Would have given it four stars if it was about 30% cheaper. If it truly was nonstick with every dough I would have given it five stars even at the current price.

5.0 out of 5 stars Simply great Sep 10 2004
By Christina J. Michaud - Published on Amazon.com
Perfect for baking bread--I never again will need to scrape flour off my wooden table after kneading. I've never used it for pie crusts, since I always use two layers of plastic wrap for that, but I honestly can't imagine that _anything_ would stick to this. My bread dough has gotten much better since I don't need to use so much extra flour when I knead and shape it.
