1.0 out of 5 stars Harrison's prinicple, Mar 13 2003
By
shaun manesh (Georgia, United States) - See all my reviews
In 1998 I taught a class in medical technique for medical assistants. I had a text to teach yourself medical terminology. I went to Ingrin Medical book store and reviewed several books. I loved Harrison's book and it came in quite handy as I was hired by the hospital to manage their health care. The book is very portable and needs to be revised often as medical advances and new terms come into being. It is very easy to understand, as my degree was to work with elderly in need of managed health care.

5.0 out of 5 stars Required Reading., Jan 7 2003

Harrison's is the standard textbook for Internal Medicine and has been the standard for many years. It has done an admirable job of staying fresh, though I'm not sure the addition of an "alternative medicine" chapter belongs there any more than a chapter on atheism belongs in a new King James Bible, but whatever. The companion website is quite nice, though I have not figured out exactly how it will help me yet. The bottom line here is that if you are an Internist, you need Harrisons.

5.0 out of 5 stars A must-have for internists & excellent reference for anyone, Nov 7 2002
By

This is a must-have for the internist, medical student or anyone who needs in-depth medical information at their fingertips. Medical librarians with tiny budgets, and cash-poor students, can save quite a few bucks and get a lightly-used copy of a slightly older edition. I bought the 14th edition and have found it incredibly useful, plus I saved $$$ in the process!
