Delilah really steps up, Oct 29 2010

When Luke asks Delilah to help find his missing werewolf sister, she of course agrees. The sister is very pregnant and her ex-husband is suspect number one. However, when Delilah and her sisters start to investigate, they quickly realize things are more dangerous than they thought. Someone is creating and using a nasty drug called Wolf Briar. As if things weren't crazy enough, Stacia Bonecrusher continues to stay just one step ahead of them, and it's only a matter of time before she comes crashing at their door. It will take all of them to make it out of this mess alive and on top. Failure is not an option, for they are the front line force of the war against Shadow Wing and without them there may just not be any hope.
Before reading this book I would have have no hesitation in saying Camille's perspective was my favorite to read hands down. Now, however, they are neck and neck. Delilah made some major strides in this book. She grew so much it was absolutely amazing. Gone is the naive tabby cat who is content to take the sidelines and believe the world is all roses. She is quickly becoming a force to be reckoned with as she truly accepts her role as a death maiden. It looks like she has a very full future ahead of her, but I have complete confidence in her ability to flourish in her new roles in life. I don't see Menolly and Camille treating her as if she were the baby sister anymore, she truly has become a woman in her own right.
I'll have to admit when I first started the series a long time ago I was very gun shy about the rotating perspectives. However, after reading the books, I really believe the changes in narrators adds so much more than if they all had been one perspective. Even though the sisters are bound so tightly together, the are also completely unique, and each have their own struggles to deal with. Harvest Hunting not only shows their strength together, but also really hits home just how different each of them are. Each one's unique abilities come together with the others to form one heck of an unstoppable force that will crush every obstacle in their path to protect the ones that they love.
I absolutely love this series, and this book was no exception. The girls are still going strong in their quest against Shadow Wing. Well, they are still holding the front of the lines better than could possibly have been expected. Their brood of men somehow continues to not only tolerate each other, but actually seem to be forming bonds as well. Typically that many men would be a recipe for disaster, but somehow the girls are able to keep a good leash on them, even as more are added. Harvest Hunting is definitely one of those books that you will devour in one setting and already be impatient for the next. Fans of the series will not be disappointed. Two thumbs way up!

another winning entry in this strong epic, Oct 28 2010

Middle sister Delilah D'Artigo knows her natural instinct is flight not fight though she finds it ironic that she prefers to avoid a brawl as she is a shapeshifting were-cat and were-panther. Still she has been in many battles of late (see Bone Magic) as she knows sometimes you must wear the rubber underwear and stand up and fight as she has in her effort to prevent the evil demon General Shadow Wing from victorious domination.
She recently found out that she is to be a Death Maiden loyal to the Autumn Lord. Her training in her new responsibility has begun with the group's leader Greta as her mentor, but she continues her fight against Shadow Wing. Additionally, Delilah is concerned with what is happening to her former once human boyfriend Faerie-Human Crime Scene Investigation Team Director Chase Johnson at a time when a lethal magical drug Wolf Briar is spreading while the were-population vanishes.
The latest super D'Artigo Otherworld fantasy focuses on Delilah with her siblings Menolly the rookie vampire and Camille the goody wicked witch in support roles. The story line is fast-paced as once again all hell has broken loose on earth as this time the demon tired of the three Otherworld Intelligence Agency siblings intruding on his domination plans attacks and the drug epidemic turning pandemic. Yasmine Galenorn provides another winning entry in this strong epic as she continues to rotate the lead yet the support remains solid opening with Camille the polygamist marrying her third otherworldly spouse.

Different!, Nov 17 2010

The Story
Delilah is asked to find Luke's sister, who is gone missing. This leads the family on two separate missions, finding stacia bonecrusher, find missing werewolves. The characters and plots are all weaved together very well. These books are so jammed packed with feelings and information it is a lot to take in, but in a unique good way. The Autunmn Lord is very close to Delilah in this book, as well as another entity. Delilah begins her training as a Death Maiden.
Thoughts
I really enjoyed this #8 in the series. I enjoyed Delilah's POV. The plots are weaved together creating a series of events that keeps the pace flowing really well. I was sad Chase and Delilah broke up, but by the end of the book it was put to rights. Shade, a shadow dragon, comes to be Delilah's companion, sent by the Autumn Lord. This is less erotic than the last Camille book, Bone Magic. I really like reading Delilah's POV. I'm excited to see where they are going with the series. Opposed from the previous book, this book accomplished quite a lot plot wise. I loved Shade! I can't wait to find out more about him.
