Jack Lord is outstanding as Steve McGarrett in the fantastic first season of one of television's best shows ever. Included here is the serie's pilot, Cocoon, which features some old favourites as Leslie Neilsen, James Gregory and Nancy Kwan. How nice to see them again. Thank goodness for dvds! It was a real pleasure to finally be able to see this pilot, which I'd never seen before. The episodes are all good to outstanding, and I'm looking forward to buy season 2.

I used to watch this series when I was a kid, so I thought of buying the first season for now to see if I would feel the same excitement watching as I used to. It was even better. I loved the simplicity and how the cops were using their brains as opposed to electronic gadgets that we have nowadays. The violence was just enough to get the point across. Less explicit scenes, whether it's about violence or sex. The modern version of Five-0 have characters background that don't fit. Why didn't they just create a complete new show instead of botching this classic? The current H50 doesn't hold a candle to this timeless classic.

Whether it's the memorable theme song from the Ventures, the classic catch phrase "Book'em Danno-Murder One" or the lavish Island scenes;Season One of "Hawaii Five-O" is a welcomed addition to any DVD collection. This incredible 7 disc set contains the original series pilot "Cocoon" and the remaining 24 season one episodes digitally remastered and in spectacular color.

This set consists of seven discs stored in 4 slim cases. Paramount/CBS DVD went the distance with the disc packaging and artwork. Other than some minor speckling the episodes look absolutely amazing. The video transfer is crisp and the colors are sharp and vibrant to say the least. The episodes are presented in full screen format with mono sound. The sound is clean and crisp, but it's too bad that Paramount didn't remaster the sound like they did with "Mission Impossible" season one.

I have never seen the pilot episode "Cocoon" so it was a treat for me and well worth the purchase of this set. Season One of "Hawaii Five-O" with it's great writng, memorable characters, theme music and great dialogue is 60's television at it's finest. This show was groundbreaking entertainment and it set the standard for other police shows to follow.

They don't make TV shows like this anymore and probably never will again. The bonus features found on the last disc were fun to watch and informative. I look forward to season two and hope that Paramount keeps them coming.

Enjoying the release of many tv shows to dvd, this is my favorite. I don't know what connects me to this show but it's great. It reminds me of a time when tv shows were simple, enjoyable and no need for violent gruesome scenes. It got the point across with camera shots and you made up the conclusion. Movies in the theatres were for all stuff TV couldn't show. Maybe that's why there is low attendance in theatres because there is no difference now between tv and theatres. TV is as violent now a days.

This is a good start and hope that the studio keeps giving us every season on dvd. Maybe by the end of this long series we'll be buying them on some high def disc format! But I'm happy with dvd, this in fact was broadcast in standard def!
