From Publishers Weekly

In this frankly frothy tale, Bevarly (Monahan's Gamble) spins two sexy and sassy romances that stretch the bounds of the believable. In high school, Wyatt Culver had a crush on Eve van Dormer, a crush she secretly reciprocated. But a tryst on prom night went horribly awry, and Eve's family mysteriously fled town before the two could reconcile. Twenty years later, eccentric California businessman Luther van Dormer, concerned that a jilted old business partner may harm his daughters, hires private investigator Wyatt to act as Eve's bodyguard and escort her to their high school reunion. Eve refuses Wyatt's assistance, however, leaving him no choice but to kidnap her and drive her cross-country to the reunion. While the two enjoy midnight swims and passionate caresses, Wyatt's partner, Julian, plays bodyguard to Eve's cool and collected twin sister, Simone, as she too heads for the reunion. Both couples seem poised to find the true love they've all been seeking when an actual abduction throws a last-minute monkey wrench into their plans. Wyatt and Julian are quirkily appealing romantic heroes, and Bevarly's voice is fresh and funny. Still, even the narrative's near-manic energy isn't always enough to mask an insubstantial, and sometimes downright silly, plot.

Book Description

The trouble with men...

Eve Van Dormer can't believe it -; the beautiful, brainy millionaire's daughter is stuck with Wyatt Culver as her bodyguard, thanks to her over-reactive father. She's doubly shocked at the choice too -; after all, dear old Dad once tossed Wyatt's rather attractive backside out of her life. As for attending their class reunion ... what's the most dangerous thing that could happen -; assault with a deadly yearbook? Besides, Wyatt's strong, quiet sensuality is making Eve quickly realize that her body definitely needs guarding -; from his!

Is that they're trouble!

Protecting Eve is a job Wyat can handle, but what's happened to the Eve he once knew, a woman filled with teasing laughter who'd do anything for a stolen kiss with him? Wyatt has his instructions -; keep her ex-husband away and keep her happy -; but he knows Eve will be happy only when she allows passion back into her life...so how can he convince her that he's the man for the job?

About the Author

Elizabeth Bevarly wrote her first novel when she was twelve years old. It was 32 pages long -- and that was with college rule notebook paper -- and featured three girls named Liz, Marianne and Cheryl who explored the mysteries of a haunted house. Her friends Marianne and Cheryl proclaimed it "Brilliant! Spellbinding! Kept me up till dinnertime reading!" Those rave reviews only kindled the fire inside her to write more.

Since sixth grade, Elizabeth has gone on to complete more than 50 works of contemporary romance. Her novels regularly appear on the USA Today and Waldenbooks bestseller lists, and her last book for Avon, The Thing About Men, was a New York Times Extended List bestseller. She's been nominated for the prestigious RITA Award, has won the coveted National Readers' Choice Award, and Romantic Times magazine has seen fit to honor her with two Career Achievement Awards. There are more than seven million copies of her books in print worldwide. She resides in her native Kentucky with her husband and son, not to mention two very troubled cats.
