From Booklist

It was only a kiss, but it was a kiss that neither one of them could ever forget. While riding her father's best horse without his permission, Catherine Hardwick crosses paths with Norton Russell Foxhall, the earl of Granby. In return for keeping her secret, Granby demands a kiss, thus confirming Catherine's impression that he is nothing better than a worthless, arrogant, all-too-handsome-for-his-own-good rogue. Soon Granby puts his search for a beautiful woman who isn't interested in marriage on hold as he tries to coax another kiss out of the infuriatingly unforgettable Miss Hardwick, while Catherine finds her intention to tell Granby to save his charms for some dim-witted debutante who might actually appreciate them is thwarted by her desire for another taste of the sinfully sensual nobleman. Waddell gives readers a wonderfully entertaining romantic battle between the sexes in the second in her "Gentlemen's Club" series as she deftly manipulates the simmering passion between her two protagonists into a lusciously sensual and unforgettable love story. Product Description

With his title, wealth, and reputation for satisfying his lovers beyond all expectations, Norton Russell Foxhall, Earl of Granby, attracts women in droves. But no lady keeps his fires burning for long. It doesn't help that every woman ruins the chase by blatantly wanting him. Is there any female creature whose mind isn't embroiled in thoughts of marriage and wanton desire? "Contentedly wed" are two words that make Catherine Hardwick scoff. The bold, auburn-haired beauty would never yield to a man any more than she would acquiesce to ride her beloved stallion side-saddle in a dress. Lost in irritable thought and galloping at full speed, Catherine doesn't notice the dashing young man in the road till she's nearly on top of him. She knows she must apologize, but she never expects the ruthless cad to exact such a devil's bargain from her. An arrogant earl demands a kiss in apology. An indignant lady grants him his one request. But there's no such thing as a simple kiss...and no saying no to such unruly, impossible, irresistible passion.

5.0 out of 5 stars Simply Awesome, April 29 2004
By

(REAL NAME)
This review is from: He Said No (Paperback)
The first book I read by Patricia Waddell was He Said Yes, which I finished in an afternoon and couldn't wait for He Said No to arrive in bookstores.

As I curled up in my favorite comfy reading chair to read He Said No with gleeful delight, I was rewarded with yet another incredible book by this author.

Catherine, a strong heroine you can immediately identify with is set on her heels by a delectable rake, the Earl of Granby, when he challenges her to kiss him in lieu of or rather along with an apology she owes him. The first kiss they share brings searing and unexpected feelings for each of them. Catherine fights the attraction because she doesn't want to end up in a loveless and lonely marriage like two of her friends. Granby, being the delectable rake he is, isn't sure he is ready to settle down and marry quite yet, however he finds the heroine intriguing and can't stop thinking about her.

The phrase "Just one kiss" seems to set in motion these unexpected feelings any time the hero or heroine utters it. My personal favorite part of the book involves the hero chatting with the heroine's father...and a certain blue ribbon lurking in the scene.

Once again I finished He Said No in a single afternoon. I could not put this book down. I found myself grinning in anticipation each time the hero and heroine were about to encounter each other throughout this wonderful story. I am captivated by Patricia Waddell's writing from the first line I read. Her books transport me directly to the time period where the story unfolds around me. He Said No is simply awesome!

He Said Now will be out in June and I plan on being first in line at my local bookstore to get my copy. I will then set aside a special afternoon to immerse myself in the next installment Patricia Waddell's Gentleman's Club series.

5.0 out of 5 stars A clever title and a great new series, April 28 2004

This review is from: He Said No (Paperback)
I really enjoyed this book. It's a fast paced read and has good
dialog, humor, and romance...

By the way, the reviewer who wrote 3/29/04 that she didn't understand the title as it had no connection with the story
of the book OBVIOUSLY did not read the whole book...it's quite
clever and interesting to discover why the gentleman says no...

I'm looking forward to "He Said Now" later this summer. Wonder what the book after that will be titled??

5.0 out of 5 stars Put a smile on my face, April 19 2004
By A Customer
This review is from: He Said No (Paperback)
HE SAID NO put a smile on my face. This book was a great change from the dark, brooding heros that I find in so many historical romances. The story was fast-paced and the all of the characters very well written. I highly recommend this series to everyone.
