I am a patient who has worked through many of the 'self-help for sufferers" type books and am seeking more in-depth information. I have found this book to be one of my favorites. While it is several years old (resulting in an excellent price) it is really not that dated. For example, they recommend BOTOX for chronic tension-type headache and migraine, which was just last year finally FDA approved for CM.
It is well-illustrated and referenced, and gives a wealth of information on headache types, diagnosis, treatment options (pharmacologic and non), comorbidities, etc. While it is not written for patients, the tone is very respectful and understanding toward people who suffer from headache disorders and the language is accessible to the educated layperson.
This is the book you hope your practitioners have read, and I highly recommend it for the patient who likes to be more informed. Even though it is almost 10 years out of date by this time (I saw reference to a newer edition in the reviews, but did not find it on Amazon), for the price you cannot go wrong.

Don't Buy This Edition. Get the New One., Jun 8 2005

Get the third edition of this book, also available from Amazon.com, It was due to be published on May 30, 2005. I have it on order and am surprised to see that the old edition is still so highly touted on this web site.
Amazon.com., you really ought to note editions of books that have been, or soon will be, replaced by newer editions. Your failure to do this is one of the few major flaws in your otherwise great system. I speak as a long-time and prolific buyer of books from you.
Thanks.
