Solid Headset, Sep 4 2005

This headset that I use with my Uniden cordless phone and Samsung cell phone was a replacement for one by a different brand that broke. This one feels more solid and so far has lasted longer than the old one.
Some reviews about this headset complain that the other side can't hear you or your voice is distorted when you're wearing this headset. There is a little 3-way switch on the plug that you're supposed to adjust until the headset works properly with your phone (I think it's a gain adjustment). When I first tried the headset, I called a friend to help me determine the best position for the switch.

The best I have tried for the money., Aug 11 2005

I think this is a great headset for the money. I can wear it comfortably for hours. The volume is good. I rarely get complaints from listeners, and when I do, a small movement of the microphone boom fixes it right up.
I own or use 5 headsets. The only headset of the 5 which I have found to be better is the expensive Plantronics I use at work. Of the 4 I have at home, 2 are the "wrap around the ear" kind. I do not find this style comfortable. I cannot wear them for more than about 30 minutes. The Panasonic version has scratchy foam fore the earpiece which makes it almost unusable (as compared to this Plantronics which has a soft, leathery feel).
The other wraparound I have is more of a hard plastic. It feels better, but it still hurts my ear after a while.
The last headset I have at home is an expensive Motorola blue-tooth earpiece for my cell phone. I find that the Motorola does not sound as good (sounds like I am in a garbage can) and is not as comfortable as this Plantronics. I think this headset is a great deal.

Works Great For Me, July 8 2002

I have used this headset for over a year now. It has worked very well for me, using it with my Polycom desk phone. I find it comfortable, with excellent sound quality both from the earpiece and through the microphone to those on the receiving end. I also purchased the Plantronics headset phone which came with this same headset.
The reason I have not given this 5 stars is that I have experienced the same (and only) problem with this headset. The wire is slightly short for my use. This in itself is not a problem, but I tend to pull it, sometime yanking it off my head if I'm reaching too far while on a call. Again, this in itself isn't a problem. However, over time the phone plug has developed a short or something so that the connection sometimes becomes crackily, and worse, sometimes emits an extremely loud screech to through both my earpiece and over the line to the receiver. This has happened to both of my headsets.
I wish the plug was a bit more durable, but given the realitively low price, I will simply purchase a replacement and try not to stretch the wire too often.
I've tried many headsets and I find this the most comfortable and best performing headset.
