From Library Journal
A logical successor to Hess and coauthor Anne Elise Hunt's Pickles & Ice Cream: The Complete Guide to Nutrition During Pregnancy (McGraw, 1982), this book is written in a down-to-earth style that makes it a good choice for first-time parents. It offers advice and tips on nutrition for children ages one to five. Topics discussed include sugar, fiber, additives, fats, and cholesterol. Another helpful feature are the menus and over 200 recipes for foods high in nutrient density. Although Margaret McWilliams's The Parents' Nutrition Book (Wiley, 1980) provides a more in-depth discussion, this is recommended for public library collections.
