"Déjà Vu", but what's wrong with that? It's what his fans want !,

This is the 13th studio album from Kenny Gorelick, known as Kenny G, the epitome of soft jazz musician, who broke into the charts long ago...in 1982.He has sold millions of albums all over the world, but nothing much has happened/changed since the release of his first album. Produced by Walter Afanasieff, one of the most 'mainstream' and infamously commercial mass-producers/arrangers along with Phil Ramone, Clive Davis, Tommy LiPuma and David Foster, the album is destined to do extremely well in all pop charts. He delves into his familiar sound, which is pleasant and innocuous. There is no new ground-breaking here, and the pretty, melodious and predictable tracks struggle to grab a tiny spot on your brain 'memory card'. Of course, he can play, he can do much better than this, but he doesn't want to disappoint his adoring fans, sticking mostly on the surface flash more than on real improvisation and on real expressions/emotions. A few exceptions: the title track, the ballad "Fall Again", which features the beautiful vocals of Robin Thicke, "Déjà Vu", and "My devotion". The R&B singer Babyface is a special guest, but his role here is more decorative than substantial. All in all, this is a safe, enjoyable saccharine-rich candy to you ears. Rhythm And Romance

When I first got this CD, I listened to it but didn't like it at all. Counting 3 Holiday albums, this was the 12th CD of his that I have bought, so I was surprised by my response. Then I misplaced it. A month later I played the entire CD 3 times in 2 days and loved it. While playing it at lunch, there was one particular song I really enjoyed called "G-Walkin'." My wife even asked what the name of the song was.I even liked the 2 vocals on this CD and I'm usually one who likes my smooth jazz straight up with no chaser. I've often told myself, if I don't like an album the first time through, put it aside and listen to it another time. That certainly held true for this CD. If you enjoy the music of Kenny G., then I recommend this album to you. It's right up there with all the other great music he's made over the years. 5 of 8 people found the following review helpful

Enjoy Kenny G, but to much electronic background music. Cost of production seems more important than quality.
