5.0 out of 5 stars Wow Wow Wow Wow Wow, April 13 2004

"Thank-you for dreaming with us" ......... That is what it says in the albums liner notes and all I can say in response is "MY PLEASURE!" What a beautiful CD this is.

What I really like about these songs is that they are so accessible the first time you hear them but each time you listen you hear new things that add to the depth of each song. And the mood that these songs put you in...pure bliss! The lyrics also seem simple at first but after a while when you get the whole context of the song, the words are deep. "You get back on the latest flight to paradise, I found out from a note taped to the door. I think I saw your airplane in the sky tonight, through my window lying on the kitchen floor."

I 'discovered' this group while reading through the nominations for the Juno awards. They lost out to Buck 65 but hey..at least they were nominated and I tip my hat to the Junos for recognizing these guys. I find them to be a little similar to The Postal Service with the guy girl word play and the new wave-ish sound, although their sound is more ambient synth-pop than electronica.

Standout tracks are ELEVATOR LOVE LETTER, HEART, ROMANTIC COMEDY, LOOK UP, LIFE EFFECT. Stars HEART is definitely tops for 2004 so far.

First of all, let me make it clear that I work with Ammolang, and he's the one who popped this album in, leading to me liking it, leading to me buying it. Now, for those of you who are curious as to what vibe this album is on (and those of you who just happen to be album-title illiterate), let me break it down.
I popped this album in my car stereo, coming home from just buying it, and something strange happened. First the sun came up, even though it was 8:30 at night. Hearts and butterflies started coming out of my exhaust pipe, and like 20 cupids started fluttering around my backseat. Needless to say, I panicked. I hit eject, and it got louder, so I attempted to punch the CD out of the stereo, but I found myself unable to display the slightest hint of violence. Of course, I wasn't paying attention to the road, and regained consciousness only to find myself speeding toward a tree. I freaked, slammed on the brakes, and a friggin cloud came down to scoop me up up and away.

Yep, it's that fluffy. I was that hopelessly hooked. How have I never heard of this band before? Sure, if I had never met my boy Ammo, I might just be so closed minded as to call this music fruity sentimental crap, But, um, Stars, I think you owe him some money.

this is one of the best cds i'v eever purchased. the stars melodic sound is soothing, uplifting and perfect chill or driving music. heart, elevator love letter, and romantic comedy are brillant tunes. i cannot recommend this album enough, especially if you like stuff from death cab or broken social scene.
