(FYI, I'm a U.S. viewer of the show. I'm pretty much copying what I said on the US side except a few alterations-- just in case any Canadian fans are contemplating buying these "GMCTV" sets ):
Early last year I discovered this show, and soon after caught up to the current episode being shown in Canada (season 4).
Because I love the show so much, last fall I purchased the original Canadian "Complete Season One" (13 episodes), but decided to hold off purchasing more sets in hopes that the prices would go down.
Last week, I purchased this particular set (for under $20), and it arrived in the mail yesterday. However, I wasn't aware that this "Complete Second Season" really isn't; at least not how it was on CBC...
It wasn't until a few hours AFTER I removed the wrapper & discs, and examined the inside & outside of case, that I read the very bottom last sentence on the back cover (in very small letters), which states: "Please Note: This Package Contains Episodes 23 To 45 Of Heartland As Seen On GMCTV".
I went online and compared the original CBC lineup with the episodes named in the "GMCTV's Completed Second Season" set, and figured out that it is in fact season 2 episode 10 to season 3 episode 14 (so it's missing episodes 14 to 22 if you have the original Canadian set of the "Complete Season One").
Upon further checking with different online sellers, it appears that the Canadian releases are being phased out because it's getting harder and harder to find them on Amazon US, and even on eBay.
But now that I see they're also being sold in Canada, so who knows what is going on!
I mean, wouldn't fans of the show (at least in "Region 1") rather buy the previous seasons dvd set as soon as the new season is set to air, instead of waiting for this "GMCTV"- obviously behind times- to release their set?
FYI: the insert in my dvd set states that "GMC" would start showing "All New Season 3 Wednesday August 1" which is half of season 3 and 4. So my guess is either late 2012, or early 2013.
In conclusion, my suggestion to you Canadian fans is to pick the set of your choice (Canadian vs. GMCTV), and buy all from that line; you just CAN'T mix and match the releases, otherwise you'll end up missing some episodes.
