mix of old and new,
By Pink Noodle (Duncanville, TX USA) - See all my reviews

Kate's website points out that all of her songs on this CD are previously released, while those of her husband John are new. You might consider buying the movie itself. Kate and John play 2 songs in a pub scene.

First this consists mostly of re-releases of older Rusby tunes (Sweet Bride, Fairest of All Yarrow, Drowned Lovers, etc). Those who like Rusby's works will find much to like here. What makes this album different is the number of John McCusker tunes thrown in along side Rusby's stunning voice. The instrumental elements here add a richness to the album which makes this album stand apart. Every Rusby fan will like this album.

Since I'm already a John McCusker fan, I knew Kate's voice would be the kind you fall in love with - and I did! It is such a pure, sweet voice and the songs she sings are beautiful, English folk songs each telling its own story. John's teriffic contributions are evident throughout. You'll enjoy it from beginning to end and then you'll just have to start it over again!!
