Product Description

Bianca, a 21 year old student of German literature and the model of this book, fascinated by his work introduced herself to Thomas Karsten with the strong desire to work with him. From this developed an intensive team-work over many months. Wild, cheerful pictures developed, outside and inside, on Majorka, in Berlin and elsewhere, in the street, in bed, alone and with other models. The pictures vibrate of pleasure, produce heat. They don't come across cool beauty in this book, but hot natural desire.

A Beautiful, Erotic Photostudy Sep 8 2009
By Michelle7 TOP 500 REVIEWER
Format:Hardcover
Heat is the third book now from German photographer Thomas Karsten that documents his work with a single model. In this case her name is Bianca - a breathtakingly beautiful Spanish model whose Latin fire undoubtedly played a role in choosing the book's title. Bianca is absolutely gorgeous and Karsten captures her beauty in a wide variety of color and black & white photographs. Ranging from soft, sensual portraits to more daring erotic nudes, we are given witness to every inch of her gleaming, olive-skinned frame. She and Karsten hold nothing back. In a few photos, Bianca shares the page with another girl or two, in what appears to be a genuine exploration of lesbian sexuality. But she makes it clear in the book's interview (written in German, English, and Spanish) that she has a boyfriend in her private life. Such is the chemistry between her and Karsten that lead her to explore such fantasies. Karsten also comments that unlike in his previous two books created around a single woman (She and Days of Intimacy), he and Bianca are not romantically engaged. Perhaps this allowed for a different, more objective dynamic, for this is one of his most powerful bodies of work.

Heat features 300 photographs (about half are B&W and half color). Dimensions are 10" x 7.5" (25.5cm x 18.8cm). It is a daring, spectacular, intimate photo-study of a ravenously beautiful young woman. Don't miss it!

Hot! Jan 22 2010
By wiredweird - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Hardcover
This collection of figure photography stands out for many reasons. The first is that the featured model, Bianca, contacted Karsten initially. She admired his work, and seemed to feel that his skill would work well with her native comfort in being herself. Obviously, she was right.

Other one-model collections exist, including others by Karsten. Few, if any, capture so many varied moods and settings: playful, pensive, wet, wild, and sometimes cheerfully erotic. Bianca usually appears by herself, but two sequences introduce another model. As always, Karsten allows their physical affection to be what it is, without contorting the lovers into stylized poses.

This mix of color photography with B&W documents one stage in Bianca's life - a charming, slender twenty-something with moments that bring Angelina Jolie to mind. The cover-flap intro says she "... still want[s] to be photographed by Thomas when [she's] 50." Few young women have the wisdom to realize that older women have their own charm, or that she herself will have that older charm some day. I hope that she and Karsten get together again for some of those days.
