For use with select HeatTrak snow-melting stair and walkway mats, this 20-inch cable extender connects mats together using their built-in watertight connectors. In particular, the extender can be used when stairs are stairs are more than 6 inches apart. To ensure a watertight seal, the cable extender has the same patented connectors as the heated walkway and stair mats.
This cable extender can be used with residential walkway mats (HR20-60), residential stair mats (HR10-30), and industrial stair mats ("HRT" Series). The cable extender is not compatible with industrial walkway mats. Multiple cable extenders can be connected together to create custom length cables. The 20-inch cable extender and 25-foot cable extender (model HR-EXT25) can also be connected together.

Length of cable extender: 20". When you mix and match the residential walkway and stair mats, there are 2 situations which may require you to use a 20" cable extender: 1. Walkway mats connecting on 2 different levels (ie: A tiered walkway). In this case you will need a 20" cable extender to allow the mats cables to reach one another. 2. A stair mat - walkway mat - stair mat combination. When you connect a stair mat to a walkway mat and then to another stair mat, you will need a 20" cable extender to connect the 1st stair mat (closest to the outlet) to the walkway mat in the middle.

The 20 inch water tight cable extender for HeatTrak pads is the correct connection to safely link multiple mats and avoid electrical shorts or shocks. I've use this product for 3 winters with no issues or ground fault trips. This statement alone I feel qualifies this product as quality. I used this in with the HeatTrak HTM24-10 Industrial Snow-Melting Walkway Mat, 24-Inch by 10-Foot, 120 Volt
